I wouldn't call this a scary movie, yes you might get a few jumps of shock but honestly it is not that bad for kids over 10 years old to watch this film. Anyways the movie was more like a slapstick nice comedy then you think. I suppose Amy Heckerling just wanted to keep it nice and sweet since Alison Silverstone and Wallace Shawn were involved with the whole lot. It's surprising that Wallace actually used curse words, part of my childhood ruined. Well duh, it's not that bad, he is still a great icon for my generation, he deserves credit like since I don't see him much in films these days. Alison honestly looks well and to be honest, she will always be that young teenage girl from Clueless in my eyes. She's always the stunning lady.I know Justin Kirk is way older then me but I thought he was pretty darn sexy in this for some reason as his character Vadim. He really should've played as Dracula instead of Malcolm McDowell to be honest. Oh by the way, be prepared for blood if you're watching this film.
... View MoreGoody Rutherford (Alicia Silverstone) got turned into a vampire in 1841 by the stem vampire Cisserus (Sigourney Weaver). Her roommate Stacy (Krysten Ritter) got turned by Cisserus in 1992. Goody teaches Stacy to drink from rodents and being a vampire while Stacy keeps her acting young. Goody has kept her real age a secret from Stacy. They are in a support group for not drinking human blood. Cisserus is back in town and killing. Homeland security agent Van Helsing (Wallace Shawn) is investigating the strange murders. Stacy falls for her classmate Joey Van Helsing (Dan Stevens). Goody runs into her former love from the 60s, Danny (Richard Lewis) who is visiting his terminally ill wife. It's funny that Amy Heckerling is trying to make fun of the modern world but she can't get rid of the feeling of a 90's movie here. She's not really nailing today's world exactly. It would be such an amazing satire if the movie has a more modern feel. That would keep the characters as fish out of water. Instead, the whole movie feels like out of a different time. Her style is still so 90's. Most of her jokes are about the computer. Most of the music sounds like another era. Nevertheless, she lands a few good jokes but it's not enough.
... View Moreconsidering the cast here, this film had some promise. BUT NO--everyone in this awful mess of a film fails miserably, with the possible exception of wallace shawn, who is always amusing--Richard Lewis has never looked worse--the writing in this film is so banal, unfunny, and so pointless that it defies description-- each scene makes less sense than the one before it,so disjointed that my mouth was agape in astonishment--the soundtrack is ...really bad lol Alicia has aged and doesn't fit in well here, and Sigourney Weaver, committing a bloody massacre, and why? and then some xray vision comes out of her eyes, why? Malcom McDowell is so old that its distracting and....well why go on? Stay away from this film unless you are desperate and drunk
... View MoreI enjoyed this movie up until it went off on a tangent about the NSA and the current administration as well as the use of technology (iPads, Facebook, etc.). I felt that this movie was not the time or place to tackle such subjects. It was meant to be a lighthearted comedy - which it was up until that point. To me, it seemed to throw off the "funny", and just did not fit with the theme of the movie.I have enjoyed Amy Heckerling's work since the days of Fast Times At Ridgemont High (best HS movie EVER!), and was sorely disappointed when this cutesy, feel-good comedy veered from the script to launch a not-so- thinly-veiled attack on our government. Sure, not everyone agrees with what's happening in today's world, but a comedy about two hot vampire chicks is NOT the platform to express your opinions. Keep to the subject at hand, make us laugh and forget about life for a while.
