Having not seen Top Gun before but of course knowing of the film and the significance it had upon Tom Cruise's career path, knowing how raved and praised it has become in today's day and age, one decided in watching for the first time. Having somewhat high expectations based on the fact that the film seems to be universally praise from fanboys, Top Gun was a letdown. We seen a very young Tom Cruise, as well as a young Val Kilmer and they are both decent but overall the film doesn't offer much and is actually quite boring. There are the typical drama that occur but in general nothing too much that grabs the attention. Also the film offers several cringe and corny moments, but that appears to be a major reason as to why it is so loved? Also it was very clear they had to have a character killed off (in this case being Goose) to build upon sympathy and have another motor, but his death really wasn't as heartwarming as imagined. His character came off as somewhat of a joke anyway so the death didn't leave much of an impression. Furthermore, Top Gun isn't nearly as good as it has been praised for, and once can't understand the constant hype it has received. The fact that they are making a sequel over 30 years later, shows that people really love this movie. But will it be a mistake? How much hype will that have? We know once that roll out comes out and the sequel in near on its way, a lot of people will start reviewing and rewatching (or watching for the first time Top Gun). Just sit back and wait for it. 2019.

As students at the United States Navy's elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, one daring young pilot learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom. Top Gun is heartfelt, emotional and fun thanks to great direction, Tom Cruise's charm and lots of great 80's music and to be honest, i still don't get it how critics hated this film it's just freaking awesome. (10/10)

Its a movie based on US navy elite fighter weapons training and a pilot who has some skills that many pilots wont. Maverick and his friend goose are sent for training in TOP GUN where the best of the best pilots come out and are ready for real action in wars. Maverick is not an ordinary pilot, he doesn't follow rules but has some skills which makes him noticeable by instructors. The movie goes normal till his friend dies during training and maverick feels responsible for it and wants to quit. But in the end he joins the team and gets into real action.Tom cruise gives the right performance for the role. The main drawback for the movie is that the story is predictable. The first half feels normal and nothing is special in it. In the second half, aircraft fights and action keep audience alive. Apart from the story, screenplay is simple and good. Overall the movie keeps you both bored with a simple story line and also gives some nail biting action sequences for action lovers.

TOP GUN is fun.The plot follows the young jet pilot Maverick, played by Tom Cruise, who gets admitted to "Top Gun", the training school for the best of the best fighter pilots. We follow Maverick's psychological struggles surrounding themes of competition, rivalry and friendship. And we see a (very predictable) love story unfold. All of this with beautiful shots of sunrises and cheesy 80's synth tunes and you got yourself a well-rounded entertainment package. Nothing too deep, nothing world-bending... but definitely worth watching with friends.
