I hate this film. To begin with, the titular twins are such a lame and offensive fools that is so so selfishly unaware of every one around them. To make matters worse, the story is no help. It never really show any well-rounded character except the twins that when everyone is gone, you could not care even less to whatever resolution would happen to them. And the most awful part, they try to diffuse these problems of that already awful story with so unfunny and very unnecessary sketches that bugs the overall dark mood of the film. It just meshes it into a big pile of uneven stretches that is kinda uncomfortable to watch. Kinda reminds me of 80's John Hughes , where he writes a film with his ultra-stereotypes character(that always bugs me to my core) and add annoying tropes to fill the empty void.Overall, Skeleton Twins is a pretty awful. It tries to much to impress that it kinda misses it point of self-reflection.Clearly, NOT worth your time [1.5/5]

Siblings understand each other. They love and cherish each other. But they also hate each others guts. It's this notion and many different layers that this plays towards. And while some might have thought that our SNL alumni (male) would not be able to do the transition into film, he proves anyone wrong who thought so. Ms. Wiig already has established herself obviously. Those two are the running motor in this comedy/drama, that is about life, choices and staying positive. Even when that does not seem possible. Also about love and how to hold onto that (or not). There's one musical number in this that should be able to lift anyones spirit. It's very typical of the structure of the movie. Very well thought of ... as is the dialog

Others here have done a good job of covering this unusually-casted, surprisingly-strong movie, but for those in a hurry, here's my list of reactions: 1. Bill Hader joins Will Forte ("Nebraska") on the list of latter-day SNLers who have a real talent for sensitive, believable drama. That all by itself is worth the price of admission.2. The chemistry between Hader and Wiig is a spectacle all by itself. And kudos to the writers for scripting a remarkably realistic sibling relationship.3. Luke Wilson's role as husband/brother-in-law avoids the usual smear of white-bread, sports-bar types as dumb or annoying. Though his character is secondary, a case could be made that he's the hero of this movie. 4. Daring, divergent depiction of a teacher/student romantic relationship, probably closer to real life than the after school special clichés we're usually handed. Without endorsing their behaviour, script and actors make the characters human and fallible, rather than evil and/or abused. 5. This Duplass Brothers film has a very similar atmosphere to their "Safety Not Guaranteed". (That's a good thing.) Finally: 6. Unusual, believable ending, open-ended enough to keep us wondering, promising enough for comfort. Conclusion: see it. Bill Hader, and the Hader/Wiig dynamic, are must-love.

This is one of those Dramadies that really knows exactly what its doing. The chemistry between Hader and Wiig really gives the movie the wings it needs to fly comfortably over the top of other films in the same genre. You feel for both of the characters, even if you hate what they themselves are going through. Each character in the film is written with not only a great understanding of what makes characters likable and unlikable, it also understands that characters themselves don't always know the answers. This film is not afraid of making you go through periods of not liking one character or another, making each interaction feel much more real. The only real negative thing I can honestly say about this movie is it has the horrible syndrome of a missing ending. The movie itself just...ends. It doesn't leave you out in the cold, but you don't get the resolution the film was building up to.If you're looking for a movie that will not only make you feel something, but that reflects your own existence without depressing you into a dark room stupor, here you go.
