I really enjoyed the science of sleep. I liked how it was super weird but made sense at the same time. The story was written well enough to support the crazy scenes that were visualized inside Stephane's head. I thought the shots inside his head with the cardboard window pulley's we're super neat and a great addition to it. I particularly enjoyed this film because it's what I want to aim towards when creating my own. It steers away from larger plot ideas and get's into the brain and explores all the little things that make people quirky and unique. I really liked Stephanie's character and the way she was intertwined between reality and Stephan's dreams throughout the movie. The creativity level with set design to costumes amazed me along with the way each scene played out.

The science of sleep is an interesting movie to say the least. Mixing dream with reality, the story pulls us into the head of Stéphane as he journeys through a relationship with Stéphanie. This film has many creative shots. It includes stop motion in many parts which makes the scenes pop. The film, at times, captures the audiences emotions. The quirky and awkward style of the movie brought humour and uniqueness to the table. Its been a while since I've seen a movie in this style and it was a nice change from the everyday violent films. But in no way a replacement. To conclude, I enjoyed this film and would recommend it. Some people may find it boring, but for those with an open mind, The Science of Sleep is for you.

I love this quirky film. The Science of Sleep welcomes us to the magical world of Michel Gondry. Three years after directing a masterpiece, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Gondry directed this dreamlike film, an interesting psychological journey inside the head of the protagonist, the talented Gael Garcia Bernal (Stephane), a young artist who confuses reality and dream. Stephan lives in a sort of limbo, unable to separate dream from reality because of a particular feeling, unrequited love. Unlike his previous works, here Gondry didn't work with Kaufman, as the scriptwriter, still as you all know, still he managed to make a fantastic film, a bit insane, frankly speaking. This unique film proves that although Gondry still adopts the same formula of twisting dreams with reality, making every viewer in doubt whether the visual projected is true or not, just like he did in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". To be honest,I expected a lot from The Science of Sleep and I was not disappointed, although it does not live up to the previous one, also has a love story at the heart of the story, but in contrast to Forget Me, here we see the end of the story at the beginning, the fears of Stephane, the protagonist, and insecurity so big that it will cause strange dreams and nightmares that mix with reality. You will definitely enjoy the brilliant special effects, though as simple as stop-motion, and I strongly suggest that this film should be shown in all film schools because this is a perfect example of a good film with only few resources available. This is a real gem, another masterpiece from a director who revolutionizes the world of music videos.

Tried watching this last night and gave up after forty minutes, which I don't do often. Although Gondry has done some beautiful work here with stop-motion animation thats a feast for the eye, the story plays like an exhausted hallucination, disjointed and frustrating, much of it owing to the lack of chemistry between the characters and the sheer confusion of the dialogue. It's hard to put into words the train wreck this film is. It was all too much. Too much scenery, too much thought, too much into every scene to try and get what was going on.Not for me.
