It's the 26th of September and it's also Ms. Sheri Moon Zombie's birthday. Not only is she known as the wife of Rob Zombie, but she has played many amazing characters in all of her husband's films. She is an icon and a queen of horror, and an actress who I have so much respect for. To celebrate her special day, I watched one of my personal favorite movies of hers, 2012's The Lords of Salem, written and directed by her husband, Rob Zombie. Sheri Moon Zombie played the iconic psychotic killer, Baby Firefly, in House Of 1000 Corpses, with it's sequel, The Devil's Rejects, and her recently badass character Charly in Rob's 31 (2016). In The Lords of Salem, she plays the good character, Heidi, a rock DJ at a radio station in Salem, Massachusetts. She receives a mysterious record from "The Lords", a record which is an ancient curse from the evil witch, Margaret Morgan (played by the legendary Meg Foster), and her coven of 6. It also features Jeff Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Bruce Davidson, Dee Wallace, Judy Geeson, Patricia Quinn, Maria Conchita Alonso, and many more. Horror legends, Sid Haig and Michael Berryman have cameos too. Sheri's performance is incredibly intense, with the emotions showing in her character, and I just do not know why some people never give her the credit that we, the fans, know she totally deserves a hell of a lot more. She should be doing more movies than most of the overrated and boring actors working in Hollywood today. Also, a massive comeback for the legendary Meg Foster (John Carpenter's They Live, Masters Of The Universe, Stepfather 2, and Rob Zombie's latest flick, 31), with her mindblowing performance as the main villain, Margaret Morgan. In my opinion, this is Meg Foster's best performance ever. Lords Of Salem is a feature filled with eerie elements, visuals, vivid atmospheres, an amazing soundtrack, etc. It's a slow-paced, shocking tale of horror that was made in a beautiful and artistic way. I know that not many people love or even "get" this movie as much as I do, but when you are actually, really in the mood (paying attention, that is), you'll definitely enjoy it; it's a very different and unique film from Master Of Horror, Rob Zombie.

Not terribly impressive piece of work from mr. Zombie. His first movies HOUSE OF A 1000 CORPSES and THE DEVIL'S REJECTS albeit far from amazing at least showed a spark of talent and a desire to tell horror-stories from a different perspective than the usual horror fare often taking the side of the 'bad guys' instead of the 'good'.But with this one it just seems like the desire is not quite there and it just falls kind of flat... Well actually very flat, the first half shows a little potential but the second half just fades out to emptiness and it becomes rather anticlimactic and you lose interest in both plot and the characters fates. As a horror it completely fails because it's not scary at all, and some scenes are just flat out ridiculous.Rob Zombie casts a lot of the usual suspects including his wife Sheri in the lead, she's okay but she's been better... Her character is a bit more boring I suppose in comparison to her other appearances in Rob's movies which have usually been quite on the wild side, even though Rob makes sure that Sheri Moons the camera even in this one (pun intended).Perhaps Rob Zombie should let someone else write his next movie and solely focus on directing, or wait until he has a story worth telling cause this was not one of them.

First off The Lords of Salem is yet another film by the brilliant artist-musician-film director Rob Zombie. This movie was released in 2012 and is a story about basically The American Witch. Unlike Rob Zombie's other films The Lords of Salem is a bit of slow starter very heavily detailed. We purchased The Lords of Salem because we are hardcore Rob Zombie fans, we love his music, art, and films. We consider The House of 1000 Corpses to be a complete work of art, "The Devil's Rejects" to be a very great somewhat extension to the first film. Rob Zombie is an artist, his work is more enjoyable to those that truly see him as an artist. Former films directed by Rob Zombies such as his versions of Halloween and Halloween 2 we feel were better than the originals, yet they still held true to the original stories. This all being said, "The Lords of Salem" was more artistry based of a film, slow moving, detailed, but is a hard film to get in to.Now we watched "The Lords of Salem" a few times now, following Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie) through the story as it slowly exposes that she had a lot to do with a specific coven of witches known as "The Lords of Salem". I can't stress the length of time in this build up enough, maybe too much detail leading up to this was displayed. Of course Rob Zombies' movies are all about the detail which has made them all amazing, this film specifically is just slower based. The film style used in The Lords of Salem is awesome, the characters were played very well, and we also liked the little kick backs here and their noting other movies. Things like Sheri Moon Zombie being referred to as "Baby" for a quick spot in the story, just to name one of these. But yes the cast was perfect, the graphics were very good, and we cannot leave out John 5 for his music contribution and acting.

Heidi LaRoc (Sheri Moon Zombie), Herman Salvador and Herman Jackson are an alternative DJ crew at local Salem radio station WIQZ. A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record by the Lords arrives at the station for Heidi. Heidi interviews Francis Matthias (Bruce Davison) who wrote a book about the Salem witch trials. She decides to play the record on the air. It starts a series of disturbing visions. Matthias is concerned about the record and starts investigating.Rob Zombie has mastered the art of disturbing imagery. He has style to spare. His storytelling continues to be incoherent. This story is relatively simple which allows the audience to follow easier. I would love to see him direct somebody else's script and stick close to it. Without structure, he has a tendency to go off on a tangent.
