Young family, plus the wife's sister, move into an old country house in Georgia which has a history of helping slaves escape to the north but which is also haunted. This title is nothing more than a dumb cash-in on the original movie as this is set in Georgia, NOT Connecticut. However it is superior to the first movie. Sure, like the first film, we have overkill on the ghosts, which soon lose any scare factor & just become the norm. And there are some gaping plot holes - why wasn't the rest of the underground "station" fully explored previously in the movie when the initial corpses were discovered? And a 25ft fall later looks like an 8ft one. However, this one has a far more interesting story & I think much better characters than part 1. And although it's not particularly frightening it does have a number of scary moments. Overall a pretty simple but satisfying ghost tale, though I take any "based on a true story" claim regards such films with a huge piece of salt.

Review: This is wasn't too bad. As usual, no one listened to the little girl who is seeing dead people, which made this film not that original and pretty irritating in places. It seemed quite repetitive and a drag in places but I have seen worse. I wanted the director to get on with the core of the storyline because he spent ages filming dead people popping around the house doing mysterious things. When it finally gets going, it ends up being an average paranormal movie but what got to me was the ending when you see the actually people that went through the odd experience. I honestly thing that the director should have got some decent actors to play the roles because the little girl was the only person that really stood out. Average!Round-Up: I'm not a big fan of horror movies so I'm not the best person to review this movie. I did like the little girl in this movie, who put the adults to shame, but the script wasn't good enough to make me think that it was a classic. It's another one of those horror movies when the audience are shouting at the screen saying "Get Out Of the House" but as usual, the adults just don't listen. There are so many weird things happening around the family in there new house, it really makes you wonder if they enjoyed getting visited by dead people. Anyway, there are some parts that are pretty gruesome, but in all, it's your everyday horror movie.Budget: $9million Worldwide Gross: N/AI recommend this movie to people who are into there paranormal movies about family who move to a new house and end up seeing dead people. 3/10

how could you mess The Haunting in Connecticut part 1 so tremendously? i was expecting some sort of change? but it's nothing but the same previous part, with different actors, the first one is pretty enjoyable and horrifying, with a wonderful performance, but this one? EH! let me just state that there were a bit of jump-scares and all, but why the hell is it rated R? it's so predictable and not so terrifying, the first hour of the film is a total waste, the characters see a floating ghost? then what? the first hour is pretty much the characters seeing ghosts, we get it, i got really confused how the mother doesn't believe her daughter ALTHOUGH, she sees ghosts as well as her, that's pretty messed-up, lots of scenes were dumb; and a mature average human was not to re-act the way the actors did, the little Emily Alyn Lind had a good performance though, that's why i'm giving it the 3 stars, anyway, it wasn't the horror i was looking for, it's a waste of time and money, this movie basically ruined the true story, it could have gone better .. it's not recommended, don't think about it whatsoever.

I thought this movie was one of the best 'horror' movies I have seen. It has to be made clear at this point that this is not a 'slasher' movie, in fact there is no slashing in it at all. Hence there wasn't much 'gore' and blood spilling, but that is not to say there wasn't any horrifying imagery, actually it was quite memorable and imaginative in that regard. There wasn't much new in terms of scares but there were plenty and the makers put great effort in keeping you on edge throughout by keeping you guessing what would come next. The acting was entirely acceptable and although I was worried at first that certain characters would get annoying they turned it around by the end. The two things the movie managed to achieve extremely well were atmosphere and historical context. At the end of the day even the best horror movies rarely compare well to great movie from other genres and generally only work if you 'let yourself believe' as such this movie achieved everything it could want to achieve. It's fits well onto a list with similarly well executed films such as The Awakening, Silent Hill 1, The Orphan and Sinister and was much better than a lot of the uninspired rest. Btw, yes, the naming was silly and almost made me not watch this but that doesn't take away anything from the actual movie itself. Also it didn't feel like a 'based on a true story for the sake of it' kind of movie and I was surprised, but din't really care to find out at the end.
