I just stumbled across this little gem on an on-line movie web-site and all I can say is WOW! It's been a while since I've seen a film done this well and how refreshing considering the garbage that they consider films nowadays. The acting outstanding, especially the boys, cast wonderful, plot awesome...it has everything and to top that, the heroes are kids. A great adventure for the whole family...adults and kids alike... it's got everything you'd want in a great story, lots of riveting action, drama, a little comedy and lessons to be learned about true friendship, loyalty and courage. The movie was REAL.. I found myself rooting for the two young heroes immediately and readily drawn into their adventure and wondering all the time what was going to happen next as in any good story and at the credits, I wanted to stand up and cheer...great work guys...this one is a WINNER!

Look at the number of film festival awards "The Fly Boys" has received. It is obvious that audiences connect with, and are entertained by, this movie. Why then have the studios taken a pass on distributing a film which, in my opinion, would not only be commercially successful, but critically praised as well? America is eager for this kind of family entertainment. I recently saw the movie at Bend Film 2008, where it won the Audience Award. It is well made, well written and well acted at a cost of only $2 million. While it might be better served with a few nips and tucks through editing and in structure, it is a hell of a ride for two hours and an incredible first time effort for its director. How rare it is to find an action movie with an interesting story and well drawn characters that have heart. You will find yourself laughing, crying, gasping and on the edge of your seat with action scenes that are truly breathtaking. It is a movie that both genders and all ages will find entertaining and heartwarming. I know...I know...these are descriptions that are an instant turn off to many cold hearted movie executives who are only looking for a return on their investment. I just don't understand why (other than the fact that it doesn't have major star power), the studio brass don't realize that it could be a major hit and enthusiastically received by movie audiences around the world who are hungry for this type of entertainment. What a pity! I feel fortunate to have seen "The Fly Boys" on the big screen. I only hope that you have the same chance.

I really thought this movie was great. I took my grandparents to it as it was released to the cinemas. I am not sure if it has been released publicly or just because it was filmed where I presently live. It cracks me up that with all the phenomenal scenery - it was attributed to Arizona. (It was actually filmed in Southern Utah(Hurricane) - I went to the school they attended - its been torn down since) I was fascinated by the fact I had never HEARD of this movie. It was outstanding. Action packed - thrilling - touching - and yet realistic. It was awesome to see the reaction of children in the theater as well - they seem to feel along with the boys! THis was perfect for all ages - young to old - and impressive from start to finish. This may have been one of the best movies I have seen all year!

I absolutely loved this movie. The mother is the mother I wish I had had and wish I had been. And the cast was wonderful and it flowed well and it has an ending that is fulfilling. I esp. loved the mother and Reilly McClendon. The flying scenes were very interesting and the story line had everything you could want. I esp. like that the bully gets what is coming to him. I had bullies as a little girl and would love to have had the skills and guts to take care of him like the boy does in this movie at the beginning. I got to meet the actress playing the mother and Reilly who is now 18. Both seemed like very nice people. And the writer/director was also very down to earth. I am awaiting the DVD release so I can buy this movie and watch it again.
