The plot is a decent adventure but totally reminds me of a cross between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone. It totally fell short for me with lame characters and honestly, didn't produce many laughs for my 8-year old. I think she thought the animals were the funniest characters and they were pretty minor ones at that. I was turned-off by the negative image of Freddie, the Latino sidekick, portrayed as lazy, into soap operas, & only doing favors for money. Then the female lead, Sara, has a voice of a child and an unfeasible curvaceous body. If the body her creators gave her isn't odd enough, then they decide that her "adventure clothes" should be a super tight tank top with ample cleavage hanging out throughout the film, short shorts showing a J-Lo round bottom, and her movements are consistently over-dramatized feminine (hand on hips, swaying hips while walking). It's actually a bit laughable because she's so ridiculously un-real, boring and sadly, sends a wrong message to boys and girls alike. Tad's character is also a strange creation. The film starts with him as a 5-year old boy very interested archeology, dreaming to become an archaeologist, then...(?) flash-forwards to him as a bumbling bricklayer - nothing wrong with this but there's a huge gap with this transition and not sure what it says to kids. For my 8-year old daughter, the action scenes and surprises were a notch-up from most films we see (a couple of instances where she hid her eyes). On the other hand, I think she was grateful for a "bigger kid" movie than what we are used to seeing. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this or choose it again. Surely, we can make better films for children in the 8-12 age range and in the meantime, you can find a better film to watch than this one.

This was a new movie on Netflix and my daughter wanted to check it out. I was very disappointed in how sexualized the female character is in this. She looks like a Bratz doll in a super low cut tank top. It was completely distracting and really unnecessary. The main male character was normal looking completely devoid of washboard abs and chiseled features, because male character don't have to be sexy, but the female ones do apparently. Oh, and there are only like two female characters in the whole movie, the sexy one and a secretary. I think this movie sends a harmful message to kids about the role men and women. I'm honestly wondering how something this sexist was produced and created in 2014.

when i saw the poster of that movie i said to myself "oh , it's another predictable movie , just like journey to the mysterious island " but when i got to see it with one of my friends i found it pretty good ! full of pure humor , exciting pursuits and some suspense .. the thing i loved most in this movie was the pure Inca spirit and Peruvian civilization content , the mute bird was a really clever comic addition to this movie along with the Momia as well .. in the technical and artistic side this movie is very good , full of colorful landscapes and accurate detailing even in the smallest surfaces , objects and big buildings , a great family show ,highly recommended

It has been a while since I saw the trailer for this movie. I finally watched this with a slight hesitation. It was okay, but I was really getting tired of quips and parodies of other animated movies within this one.I am one of those people who likes a good turn in story line without stealing a whole lot from previous ones. Granted original stories are becoming few and far between, but this one seemed to drag as you see other tidbits emerge from movies such as Wallace and Gromit, The Pirates, Indiana Jones, etc. Believe me, I wasn't looking for this type of thing, it jumped out at me as if it were shouting, "Oh, look! I'm not all that original!"Young Tad starts off with a dream to become an archaeologist. You don't know exactly why, he just does. The movie doesn't go all that in depth about it at all. He grows up and still daydreams for something he never really works toward, but still hopeful. His 'friend' who is an archaeologist becomes his gateway into his dream. He meets a dream girl, her father is the leading archaeologist in the world only to be topped by her future husband who has star qualities, thus also the mole/bad guy. I didn't have to read reviews to know how this movie would turn out.Unfortunately for me, I had to keep waiting for the movie to keep loading on my computer, and all the signs in the movie were in Russian, yet the credits were in English. Oddly enough, the entire movie was made by Spanish speaking people who spoke English in the movie. Yeah, it was a bit messed up for my viewing pleasure. Anyway, I didn't get the full jest of many of the jokes because I cannot read Russian. As much as I saw through most of this predictable yet stylish story line, about the only parts that impressed me were a few unexpected twists which I thought would happen much sooner than later or vice versa. Other movie parodies are popping into my head as I write this. The animation was not as fluid as I thought it would be, which means the frames per second were lower than normal. I could go on, but I think I've typed enough at this point. Oh, and there are some really great scenes every once and a while through out the movie.
