I screened this movie first to make sure there wouldn't be any nasty surprises when I watch it with my girls (11 and 13). Usually when I do this I speed through -- this one I actually watched, and laughed. Which is what compelled me to write a review. For parents looking for a fun family film with a nice message that's still relevant and interesting for teens, this is it. It's amusing to find the Snow White elements sprinkled throughout, too.Suspend your disbelief and just enjoy it together. Anyone struggling with middle-school cliques and kids struggling to "Fit In" can take heart from this one.

What happens when you take a few elements from Animal House (which worked somehow), Revenge of the Nerds, Mean Girls (which also worked somehow), and a classic fairy tale? You get Sydney White. I do not usually go for movies like this, what with being a middle-aged cantankerous old broad, but this movie sounded somewhat interesting, and I figured it was going to be okay, and thus a way to blow off almost 2 hours of a boring day, or was going to really be bad, and I'd just doze through it. And it was okay, until the very end when it turned into Revenge of the Nerds. Why "they" decided to steal that infamous scene, replacing I Am A Nerd, or I Am In Love with A Nerd, with, I Am A Dork, is beyond me. Up until then this movie was cute and entertaining and moved along nicely. This movie also has some very funny lines and scenes. And I really liked how they incorporated the classic fairy tale into the movie and made it work. And yea, there were some problems with the movie (is college life really like this? No), those are easily over looked (like the deal with who was or was not wearing a wig, which was more than 1 young lady). So check it out.

I rated this one better than awful because I liked seeing Jonathon from Buffy in something again -- even if it was the same role.First, the concept is kind of cute for a short, but not an entire movie. The writing was forced and contrived. I have the feeling that the movie suffered the most during editing.Second, Amanda Bynes always looks like her eyes are crossed -- even when she's not trying to do it. She's just not funny. She always plays some sort of misfit girl who triumphs by being herself -- ironic, considering Amanda seems to always be a caricature. I would actually like to see her in something serious. I really want to give her a chance, but she is always cast in these trite roles where she wiggles and makes faces and somehow that's a good thing? Finally, the whole "I'm a Dork" segment was ripped off from Revenge of the Nerds. There was nothing in this movie that was unpredictable.Shame, shame, shame.

Honestly...at first I looked at the front cover and thought hey, this looks like a crappy chick flick being my sisters have already seen the movie twenty times, and the cover just looks corner. So right away the movie starts off slow, introducing who she is, what she does, her mom died when she was nine, yada yada. It picks up when she has to fill the kappa legacy, her getting kicked out and sent to Vortex to chill with her nerd friends, and the election.I soon realize with all the brilliant names like White Witchburn and Prince that this movie was all about a modern day Snow White. The dorks are the dwarfs, the virus is the poisonous apple, the "Hi Hoes", it really had a lot of cameos from its model film. The message this movie portrays is a positive one, and you will laugh a lot along the way...especially if you've experienced college, are doing so now, or on their way, it's fun for everyone."I've never had sex, but I really, really want to!"
