An extremely boring 2hour movie that could have very easily been cut down to 90 minutes, or even a 40-60 minutes single episode. Confusing to some people that watched it with me, even myself to some degree. The documentary that I watched was more exciting to see, so just watch that instead. However if you like to see people eating through half of the movie by all means watch it. For those on here that say "chilling" or "intense" and whatever else, must have been watching wall paper aging because this was just a very bland movie unfortunately.

"The Snowtown Murders" is a 2011 independent film, originally titled "Snowtown", and is based on the true story of numerous murders that were taken place in a small community in Australia. The film's story was written by Justin Kurzel and Shaun Grant, the screenplay was written by Shaun Grant and the film was based on the books "Killing for Pleasure" written by Debi Marshall and "The Snowtown Murders" written by Andrew McGarry. The film was the directorial and writing debut for Justin Kurzel who'd go on to make 2015's "Macbeth" and 2016's video game adaptation "Assassin's Creed". "The Snowtown Murders" (TSM) was nominated for 44 independent movie awards and won 22. Now, if you don't live in Australia... I recommend studying the murder case before watching this film. GOOD:-Acting -Writing -Directing -Cinematography -Accuratness to the events -Not afraid to hold back on the dark aspects of the real life storyOKAY:-The plot is a little hard to understand at timesBAD:~NOTHING~ Conclusion:I highly recommend this movie if you are into crime and murder dramas / biopics. It pacts a very emotional punch and characters you can relate to and morals you can understand. The downside I had while watching this was that I live in the US, so I had no idea about this case. I heard about it but never read up or watched anything about it. So if you're going into this movie expecting it to explain everything to... You'll be wrong. I recommend reading 1 of the 3 books that have been written about this story or watch one of the many documentaries that are available on YouTube. Overall, it's a great movie with great acting and is the start of a promising career from Justin Kurzel. I hope "Assassin's Creed" is good. I'm writing this on December 11th, 20116.

A true crime story is always intriguing but this beauty goes beyond. If that's your thing, like it is mine to watch all those documentaries on serial killers, this movie will melt you in your seat. The way the layout of this movie is conveyed it just makes you want more to happen you want to know more. The actors in this movie each suited the role they played and were all perfect. There isn't one thing about this movie I'd change, in fact I could sit here and watch Snowtown over and over because each time I watch it I pick up something new,It's a must see movie, I would recommend this to anyone especially if you liked Chopper (2000). This is portrayed in a very similar way.

The press junket and first wave of critical notices built Snowtown up as a throat ripper that will cause you nightmares. That didn't do it any favours as per expectation levels for the horror enthusiast. However, this is a superb piece of film making, a real gritty and grainy deconstruction of the human condition gone sour. As with all films of this type that are based on real life incidents, it pays to read up on the facts if you be so inclined. Debut director Justin Kurzel doesn't shirk from the horrors of the case, but skillfully he doesn't bang everyone over the head with shock tactics to grab the attention. It's a relentlessly bleak picture, there's a continuous build of impending dread, of human devastation wrung out by a master manipulator (Daniel Henshall as John Bunting superb), the depressing story told through the eyes of the simple and confused Jamie Vlassakis (Lucas Pittaway). Not to be watched if one is looking to be cheered up! But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be sought out as essential cinema. It's a strong and potent film, worthy of inspection by adults who understand that not all film is about entertainment. 8.5/10
