This movie is sad....and those who brought it into existence, should all bow their heads in shame...and hope that somewhere in the grand cosmos, they are forgiven. This FF film is what gives FF a bad name. This is a BAD FF film. Please, for the love of all that is sacred and good in this universe....stop rating good FF films so poorly. This is clearly an example of a movie that should be rated about 1.2 on IMDb. Yet somehow, it is floating here with an above 5 rating. FF films like Bigfoot , the Lost Coast Tapes are in the same rating ballpark as this abomination of FF. That...is a true disservice to the makers of that excellent FF film. How did this film even get any type of distribution any way. I mean any...distribution....even free online distribution...all records of this monstrosity should be vaporized and thrown in the memory hole.
... View MoreIt's a pretty cool back story and the legend is a real legend. Any movie with a a killer who wields an ax a classicly terrifying image. Def some Blair Witchy goings on with shaking tent. It was terrifying in B.W. ... It's been ripped off because it works. However, all of these things were insignificant bits of nothingness compared to the disturbing, pathetic, delusional behavior of the main guy. This whole thing was dreamed up, cultivated and executed for one purpose.... To have time and ultimately have sex with one or both of the hottest girls in college. I suspect it would be his first time with sexy because he's so creepy and inappropriate nearly the whole movie. It was amusing at first but as the movie progressed it got to be frustrating. His advances are repeatly rebuffed but yet he has the illusion of grandeur to nsanely say with a straight face .... They are here for me and I'm not with them now but I will be after this.... It's almost changed from horror to a comedy. What I took away most is its clear he doesn't own a mirror or have a friend....
... View MoreI'm not usually one to watch found footage movies, but "Severed Footage" has definitely changed my mind on them. The plausibility of the story is amazing; when I got home from watching it the first time, I searched all the issues that came up and not one of them was fictional. That, for me, is the key to why the film is really entertaining. The only other film of this type that I've seen is the first "Paranormal Activity" and "Severed Footage" was just as good, if not better. The beginning of the story (before they get to Newcastle Island) has a comic element which I just didn't get in "Paranormal", and the premise of the story was much more believable for me. All in all, I would most definitely recommend this film and it is probably the best Indie film I've seen in a long time.
... View MoreI usually do not write reviews about movies but I was so impressed with this one I had to share my thoughts. I just watched a screening of "Severed Footage" with some of my friends. We had no idea what is was going to be about other than it was a found footage and I am a big fan of the found footage movies. What I like in a found footage movie is that it should be believable. People that do not seem themselves, a fake story line or scenes that are unrealistic just ruin them for me. I found this movie much more realistic than most. The people in it seemed real, the story about the 12 severed feet washing up on shore in running shoes is not only creepy but has been all over the news. Now that got me thinking! Loved getting to know the people, made it easy to relate to them, just normal college kids. It was humorous watching the poor college nerd trying so hard to impress the hot girls in his class. Kinda like watching Napoleon Dynamite. Then as they got to the Island I was caught completely off guard. Many times we jumped out of our seats. The Axe scene was absolutely terrifying. The ending was the great too. After I got home I Googled the floating severed feet and also Kanaka Pete the Axe murderer. I found stories everywhere especially on the paranormal and true ghost story sites. Many people have had paranormal encounters with the Ghost of Kanaka Pete, and some have lived to tell about it. So many actual true events in this movie, and I like that. This is the most believable found footage movie I have seen. Lets see, no director named, no cast named, no credits, this just may be the real deal! I was a teen when The Blair Witch Project came out and that was thrilling and exciting, this is the first time I have felt that same thrill and excitement about a found footage movie since then. I would highly recommend this movie even if you are not into the found footage genre. After watching "Severed Footage" I now have a new favorite.
