Danny Dyer. The name conjures up images of some of the greatest films set to grace the big screen of all time. Yeah... right. His films (post 'The Business' and that one about football hooligans that was kind of similar to the one Frodo was in have hardly set the Box Office ablaze). However, somehow he still gets works. And for a good reason – no matter how bad his films get, we – the people – still seem to watch them. And that's just the bad ones! 'Severence' is actually pretty good. So, er, we have a group of people (including Mr Dyer) on a trip to somewhere remote (do you care?) where they get picked off one by one. Yeah, it's basically a 'slasher' movie only with white-collar office workers (if you can believe that Danny Dyer would ever be employed by any self respecting office) instead of dumb, blonde, American teenagers (although I should mention that one of Danny's co-workers is actually American and blonde – I wouldn't dare say 'dumb').So, if you've seen one slasher film then you've basically seen them all – including this. Just don't take it as an excuse not to indulge. Yes, it's nothing new, but it sure is fun. The dialogue is snappy and the characters fun to watch. And, if that's not enough, you have the gore. Again, for a low budget film with no stars (sorry, Danny – no offence, but you're hardly Tom Cruise) the gore is nicely done and pretty sick (special mention to a missing leg scene). And, if nothing else, there is possibly the most amusing use even of a rocket launcher (if not the sickest – technically) that even rivals the RPG fired in Chris Morris' 'Four Lions.' Don't expect a great movie with Oscar-worthy performances, or self-realising character arcs. Basically, if you like daft, cheesy slasher films then you should enjoy this. And if you also appreciate Danny Dyer's 'acting' abilities then you'll get double for your money.

I found this movie very fresh. I haven't seen anything like this in a while. Bunch of people in the woods not aware of what is going to happen. It had a nice ensemble, with characters of all kinds. Each actor is suited in his/her role. But yes, i felt that they could have done better in mixing up the funny part and the horror part more effectively. No big deal, i enjoyed it for most part. Talking about Christopher Smith, i am starting to like his work even more now. I first saw Black Death, then Triangle and then Creep and i found them to be very engaging. So clearly he is doing pretty well scaring us. This one also adds up as his fine work. I hope we see more such films again.

i enjoyed this film, I've seen it three times, i'm a big Danny Dyer fan, so i had an idea what it would be like. It starts like all good horror films, with seemingly innocent characters going off on a trip. Its quite slow at first, which lets you get sued to the characters, then slowly and frighteningly bad things happen, which gets faster and faster etc.. like all horror films, there a few twists. spoiler alert the maniacs are quite good, the effects believable, and painful looking , bits of humor, and quite believable how the characters turn on each other when in distress. if you like budget horror films and Danny Dyer, then you'll like this. Tim Mcinerry ( capt darling)of black adder fame is in it as well.

This was the first Christopher Smith movie I seen when it first came out and for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a comedic/horror movie and although I didn't particularly find the movie all that funny or scary it was for some reason pretty entertaining. The build up is sort of long with the characters and the climax isn't anything amazing. But I never found this movie to be boring or anything like that despite the story not being all that great, the way it's directed makes the movie enjoyable. The characters get killed off as soon as they start to stand out in a quick manner which is one of it's flaws. And the antagonist or killers first start out a bit intimidating but soon just comes off incompetent. Maybe it was to give a surviving chance to the goofy characters in this movie. The thing is this movie doesn't try to be anything more than what it is. And what it is, is a enjoyable straight to DVD flick that is especially fun to watch with a group of friends. Not one of the best in this type of genre, but it's a entertaining movie never the less despite it's flaws.6.5/10
