Watch this if...you to see a goofy comedy revolving around two guys cracking safes that know nothing about cracking safes. A fairly silly premise, but makes for an entertaining film.Acting/Casting: 7* - Sam Rockwell and Steve Zahn are great in the lead roles and have great chemistry together. The supporting cast is very strong as well and the group provides plenty of comedy.Directing/Cinematography/Technical: 6* - From start to finish, the movie has a nice, entertaining pace that makes for a easy watch. Nothing extraordinary here and nothing really bad to say about the film.Plot/Characters: 5* - Again, the plot is blatantly goofy and does a good job being just that. It is more comedy than heist, but has a nice blend of both.Entertainment Value: 6* - It is a fun watch and has a really nice pace to it. This is truly a funny picture: subtle, witty, and sweet. Even the menace isn't that menacing in this light comedy. Rockwell and Zahn, both having enjoyed some more commercial successes, love every moment on screen. But, here's yet another film with the great Paul Giamatti. Prior to Sideways, how many movies has this guy done, always under the radar? I really like the way Hamburg sees something good in all his characters, everyone is likable here, how rare is that? The recent 40 Year Old Virgin share's that accomplishment. This movie isn't as great as Virgin, but Hamburg's writing and skill is admirable and on the verge. So here's my problem with the film. Where's the audience? Why didn't this movie find a niche in the theater. If independent films like Clerks and Blair Witch can find viewers, why didn't this comic gem? In fact, it's currently not easy to find at the video stores, etc. What's the matter with everyone? Aren't there already enough Adam Sandler movies out there?

I absolutely loved this very subtle very outrageous wonderful comedy. Sam Rockwell and Steve Zahn do rival the best pairings in comedy history in this movie. The supporting cast is terrific and the story is also rather gripping. If someone tells you this movie is bad... DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM PLEASE watch it! Then decide for yourself. Everything about this movie was well done. ALSO watch HITCHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXIE (another Sam Rockwell film) VERY VERY FUNNY as well SAFE MEN was buried in the vault of some silly company and was not released very widely. What a tragic mistake! This comedy rivals anything Woody Allen has done (And I am a VERY big Woody Allen fan)

I'm not getting into the specifics, as many here have written absolutely great comments to detail how extremely incredible this Indy treasure is. Not to mention the astounding cast; Sam Rockwell, Steve Zahn, Paul Giamatti just to name a few. I can watch this over and over again and still laugh out loud. My only question is this: why won't someone for G-d sake put this out on DVD so I can buy it????? (Not a fan of VHS - I want commentary, deleted scenes, interviews, more extras, w-i-d-e-s-c-r-e-e-n, etc., etc., etc.) So if the powers that be read this, Please get off your tuchases (sp?) and get this out on DVD!!!!! Otherwise, thank you for a great movie!!!!!
