Recently, I re-watched this movie on Youtube. Let me just start out with this: The animation quality is AWFUL. The compression can often result in "layered" shades of color. The cel- shading is terrible, and the animation looks very cheap, even for Direct-to-DVD.Now I will say this: Everything else is decent: The plot is decent, the music is actually pretty good even after 13 years, and those who saw this movie years before will be struck with nostalgia beyond compare.SPOILERSThe plot is this: (after 11 minutes of filler) During a 2-man volcano rescue in Peru, Richmond "Rocky" Canyon disobeys orders (He didn't the Piton Gloves because they were "slowing him down") given by the leader, Billy Blazes, nearly leading to their deaths. While trying to save himself, Blazes grabs a poisonous thorned plant which tears through his right glove. One of their satellites notices some abnormal storms, keeping an eye on them throughout the story. Back at HQ, Rocky is put on cleanup duty for disobeying orders. However, during a discussion with some fellow Rescue Heroes, Blazes starts suffering the effects of the poison (Disorientation and blurriness of vision). In the Alps, Rocky helps rescue some snowboarders, but his rebellious attitude causes him to accidentally start an avalanche (which is stopped by a man-made avalanche caused by a fellow Rescue Hero). Back at HQ again, Rocky is "Grounded", which leaves him unable to participate in future missions for the time being. Meanwhile, many Rescue Heroes are busy due to fires, floods, and other disasters caused by the aforementioned storms. After an accident in the computer room, they discover that the storms were caused by the volcano. Doing some experiments on Rocky's gloves, they discover a new element which is highly conductive and magnetized. This element is present in the volcano and was launched up along with the dust during the eruption. Simulation models with the computers reveal that they are heading to the north pole, and if they do that, then the whole world will be covered by clouds. Thanks to an international effort, they manage to create the world's largest lightning rod in the arctics, despite some accidents. The lightning rod drains the current of the storm, and the day is saved.

The Rescue Heroes are what I liked as a Kid, and I still like them. They are cool and awesome and have all this cool stuff that they use, especially the backpacks in this movie. This movie first takes place at a volcano that erupts, causing storms to form and they spread all over the earth. It's up to the Rescue Heroes to ultimately stop them. However, Billy Blazes in infected with a poison that brings the mission to a pause. My favorite character in this movie is Rocky Canyon. He is so relatable. He finds out that it's his fault that Billy has been poisoned, and he wants to make up for it by helping save the world. Literally, they need to save the world, because the storms are heading toward the north pole, and when they meet, they will destroy the earth. Fortunately, they find a cure for Billy and the Rescue Heroes create a huge lightning rod that drains the power from the storms. Overall, 10/10. The movie is made for kids, but if you are a kid this movie will forever be with you. And it was part of my childhood so it will always be looked on as Awesome from my point of view. THINK LIKE A RESCUE HERO! THINK SAFE!
