During this period, African Americans were not accredited for any of their accolades . However, in this film they accomplished just that by making a film that revolves around the African American group, the Tuskegee Airmen. Not only does this movie depict the war of WWII, it displays the social stigma these men faced even though they were fighting a war for people who did not even appreciate it. The Tuskegee Airmen had to fight two wars. Both of these wars threatening their existence. They could have been killed in battle or even been sabotaged by their own allies. Their own allies were not appreciative of them until they realized the Tuskegee Airmen's glaring prowess in the air. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who felt or feels that people still lack appreciation for the Tuskegee Airmen...WATCH THIS! I think that this movie portrayed the racial strife and the success that they had accurately.

This movie is inspired by historical events, and is based in part on research material from the book "Red Tails, Black Wings: the men of America's Black Air Force" by John B. Holway. It was filmed on locations in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia. Several special effects and animation companies were involved in the spectacular flying and dog-fight sequences in this George Lucas production, but those sequences bore little resemblance to real WWII aerial battles. The other scenes, including those involving the acceptance of coloured pilots by the air force hierarchy and by fellow pilots, were somewhat weak. In the December 2012 issue of "Aeroplane" magazine Simon O'Connell, the aerial coordinator for the movie, describes how the film's aircraft were acquired and used on the set. It's well worth reading.

RED TAILS is George Lucas's throwback to old-fashioned war films where the emphasis is on action over complex storytelling and the like. I know this film was panned on release but I found myself enjoying it regardless, at least on a superficial level. It's not on par with something moving like GLORY but it does tick all of the right boxes and even though parts of the story are clichéd, I was still engaged in the tale. The script is nothing to write home about, playing out all of the usual characters from the wild man fighter ace to the gruff but proud officer and the rookie. The cast is undistinguished with only Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard standing out as the guys at the top. However, RED TAILS does offer plentiful action, and it's a lot better than I was expecting. Yes, Lucas is still obsessed with CGI, and absolutely everything in this film is a CGI effect (including a football!) but so much money has been spent in post production that the effects look remarkably good. This is a thrilling, old-fashioned adventure and one I had no qualms about enjoying. It's certainly better than the STAR WARS prequels...

Basically everything you can think off when rating a movie, be it acting, special effects, story, its pretty much all awful, there's nothing here, absolutely nothing worth watching, a pure waste of time. The suspension of belief required to watch this film is unbelievable, just so you have an idea, rookies on outdated planes annihilate completely German veterans on better planes, they could have thrown a German Zeppelin with a 800mm Dora cannon and it wouldn't make it any less ridiculous. This movie is the perfect example of what will happen if social justice regressive movements take over the arts industry... the message in this movie isn't of blacks gaining their equality, its a message of blacks being better than whites, its a message of all whites being evil in this movie one way or another, just pathetic propaganda from very narrow minded and racist people.
