Right,so I saw this abomination last year.I didn't think very much of it until I saw it again last week.It was then ,that I realized :It's terrible. It's like someone hired a seventeen year old girl and said 'write me a Twilight fan fiction and I'll turn it into a movie'. Honestly , I think that's what actually happened. I'm not saying that this is as bad as bad as Batman and Robin, but too be honest its not too far off it. The one thing I really hate about this movie is that it is so unoriginal. It's like Cluedo and Twilight had a baby that grew up and started wearing a big red cape on its back. I mean seriously:A girl who lives in a small ,very isolated town and has absolutely nothing special about her is caught in the middle of a love-triangle, and she is willing to run away from this so called 'European' town where everybody except Gary Oldman has an American accent, just to be with on e a these guys.Oh yeah and there's a werewolf involved .Sound familiar? As far as visual effects go, its pretty good. Acting was overall up to the standards of tired toddlers . But I must admit, there are some very clever twists and turns that you probably won't see coming. Overall, this movie was pretty rubbish.Unless your a Twilight fan girl. Then its probably the best movie you've ever seen. I hope for the sake of your sanity, that it's not.

I must admit that I actually enjoyed this movie. I found it to be more of a Mystery than a horror movie. Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman and Julie Christie actually carry their respective parts rather well. I especially liked the way Gary Oldman played the Werewolf hunter Father Solomon. Even the Werewolf was done well enough. The suspense could have been drawn out a bit more but the action wasn't bad. It's an interesting take on the original folklore and I had heard similar versions before. The love triangle was an interesting touch but I do believe that could have been developed better. All in all a good movie but needed a bit more development before it went to production. The soundtrack was actually done very well and allowed the emotions for some of the scenes to be done very well. I also enjoyed the scenery which I found to be well executed.

Wasn't too sure what to expect with this being based on a children's fable yet filmed as a serious horror/thriller flick. To my pleasant surprise it was quite enjoyable and had a nice Gothic almost German expressionist type feel to it that you might expect from directors such as Burton or Gilliam. The film isn't much of a horror as its not really scary at all so don't be thinking its gonna be a blood fest, there are some bloody moments but nothing extreme. The film runs on a fine line between fantasy and thriller with an slim element of sexual fantasy running through the plot for young teenage girls. Nothing strong, think along the lines of 'Twilight' teenage angst mixed with 'Cursed' or a little bit of 'Ginger Snaps' but not as in your face as those films, there is still an enjoyable werewolf film in here.Much fun comes from Oldman as Father Solomon the werewolf hunter. Giving a borderline hammy performance but at the same time adds a much needed edge to the film. A much needed bite of realism or stability, without that the film could easily have become laughable. Seyfried also gives a good performance as the lead Valerie which keeps the films head just above the water, apart from her and Oldman the rest of the cast aren't too good.Glorious visuals, gloomy, dark and brooding set amongst snow coated forests of aggressive and gnarled looking trees. The sets are convincing yet the wolf CGI is slightly dubious in places. Simple plot which is handled quite well seeing as its only based on a short fairytale, it won't mesmerise you but its a decent solid werewolf flick.7/10

Red Riding Hood is like a rip-off of Twilight (which was awful enough on its own). I went to the movies hoping for an action-packed werewolf horror movie similar to the low-budget indie film Medium Raw: Night of the Wolf, but ended up stuck watching a lame paranormal romance flick that only emo teenage girls would find entertaining. The plot follows Valerie, a girl living in a village in the dark ages (I'm guessing the 1600's, maybe?) who happens to know a boy who can turn into a wolf. That's about all I got from the plot because I fell asleep, sorry. Basically, if you combined Romeo and Juliet with a Harlequin Romance novel and Teen Wolf, this would be the end result. The soundtrack was so boring, hell, the whole plot was! My friend took me to see this because she said she wanted another girl to go with her... I envy her boyfriend, who got left home with a boxed set of The X-Files on DVD while I got dragged along to this stupid movie. Wanna fall asleep in the afternoon? Well, check out Red Riding Hood, it should be marketed as a sleeping pill, not a movie. It was BORING!
