This movie is really dark. But really love the dark parts.Really hate the first part, 1/3 in the movie, it is directed so wrong. Did not know who to hate or to love or who is dead!!. The first third spoils the whole movie. Want to express more about it! A great movie that deserves more credit.Zoe Bell saves it though. As always.Would not write this review if unless so frustrated about that a part of this movie was so bad and the rest is good.I usually don't write comments but the directing of of the first 1/3 was bad. And there was a suddenly corridor to run out of in the last scene?

The concept of the film kind of appealed to me... women forced to fight... the film starts off as an abduction film and it just kicks off with a brutal fist fight.... to the death. Raze... this reminds me of a 70's exploitation film, without that 70's look or feel. The fight sequences aren't bad, and the directors do enough to make it interesting enough with the simple plot and premise. This eccentric couple holds a to the death fight of 50 women once a year over 3 days 1 will win. It's a mix of Blood Sport and perhaps Hostel (maybe less grotesque, but there are scenes where girls faces are pummeled to dust). What I didn't like about the film is that this isn't Predators (where the premise is hardcore killers are being hunted), but this is a pure abduction (any woman can get abducted) film, where they are forced to fight and if they lose their families will be murdered (49 will lose so that's also a lot of murdering).Overall it was OK, but after the first 30 minutes it really felt a little too much. The ending also left a bad taste in my mouth.

Gender twist on a familiar plot. Women are abducted and forced to fight each other to the death for the amusement of rich people. Rachel Nichols gets the Janet Leigh treatment, introduced as if she were the star but killed off very early. The real star is Zoë Bell, who's reunited with her Deathproof costars Tracie Thoms and Rosario Dawson (the latter of which is supposed to be a surprise but IMDb's trivia section spoiled it for me). Bell, for those who don't know, is an accomplished stuntwoman who's done surprisingly well when given acting jobs up until now. Here, however, I'll just say that as an actress Zoë makes a great stuntwoman. When it comes to squinting her way through action scenes, she's a regular Clint Eastwood. The rest of the time she's pretty weak. Rebecca Marshall chews scenery as the fighter who likes killing. Doug Jones and Sherilyn Fenn are the bad guys but they're sadly given little to work with. The fight scenes are brutal and bloody. I won't compliment them for their choreography as they aren't staged to be dramatic but to be realistic. How is that entertaining? I'll take Lionheart over this nauseating mess. Depressing ending is the cherry on top of the crap sundae.
