Very nice movie. Story of the movie is very impressive. Sonam's acting is not so good. Nice direction. A clichéd love story backed by superior performances. Raanjhanaa impresses despite its few flaws because Rai portrays a simple and honest love story without making any changes. Dhanush even with wobbly Hindi is splendid in his debut performance. He makes the pursuit of a lover to be loved funnier, pure and honest than anyone else ever. Sonam is charming and even with few flaws, she and Dhanush make up for a wonderful pair. Raanjhanaa is not one of the best love stories captured through celluloid, but it certainly is one of the finest performances by a lead pair in a love story. Even better than SRK and Kajol in the over hyped "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge". Yeah, I said it but that's the truth. I don't say this because I'm a south India nor I personally like Dhanush. I mean I do like him in some films but I'm not his fan boy.

It is said that there are 4 famous Shakespeare tragedies....After watching Ranjhaana....I wondered if Shakespeare was alive and watched Ranjhaana, he would have definitely written the 5th.Ranjhaana is a simple love story set in the holy town of Benares and ends on a tragic note in Delhi. They says 'Love is Blind'....the movie shows that love when blind has no boundaries and cannot differentiate between good and bad.The movie starts off well, loses steam in the 2nd half but the ending is tragic but brilliant. The writing and dialogues is poetic and spices up the film. Performances by the leads is outstanding especially Dhanush. Dhanush proves that language is not a barrier for any actor and excels in his Hindi debut. You feel his emotions . Sonam puts a good performance especially in the last 15 mins ans proves that she can act. Special mention to Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub & Swara Bhaskar who play Dhanush's childhood friends. Except for the half hour in the 2nd half where the movie meanders, its a excellent movie and a must watch !!

Raanjhanaa starts out very promising with a cool street kid falling for a pretty yuppie girl. The Kid is blind to the beautiful world he lives in and starts to become uncool in the pursuit of his infatuation. A Muslim and Hindu dilemma is then thrown into the ring. So far it sounds mediocre on paper, but actually the film manages to keep it all together well. Now we have the kid losing grip and trading his soul for a deluded dream. Big dollops of melodrama are heaped on now with some staged set-ups to show that the kid can actually run the state. Finally the pay-off heightens the film at the end.Pros - Realistic flawed characters, Acting, CinematographyCons - StoryOverall - Start and End was good
