View MoreWhen the film promos hit air, I thought this will be just another Issaqzaade type film but I was wrong The film is multilayered and well handled The first half slowly and steadily explores the romance angle and it's well handled till the interval it keeps surprising you. The second half focuses more on the politics but yet the story is well narrated and handled superbly, though Zoya's character does seem mystified at times but yet the story is well handled and the climax is brilliant.Direction is good, Music by A.R.Rahman is amazing Dhanush doesn't have any qualities of a star but of an actor, he infuses life into Kundan that he becomes the character, Barring his Hindi which isn't perfect as he is south Indian yet he does a great job Sonam Kapoor who was never known for her acting talent surprises and does a perfect job, her diction too is off many times but she is simply superb Amongst rest Abhay Deol in a cameo is superb Swara Bhaskar is good, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub last seen in Jannat 2 is amazing, rest are all good
... View MoreI avoided this movie when it released because I was a writing a screenplay and backdrop of my story was Varanasi too and people told me till now no one has shown Banaras as it has been portrayed in this movie. Yesterday I watched this movie on it's TV premiere and i was spellbound, for a single second I could not find any actor Kundan (Dhanush), Zoya (Sonam, Bindiya (Swara Bhaskar) and Murari (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) they looked like typical Banarasi and they took this movie to another level. Story is always a base of any film and this film delivers, except few scenes in second half you cannot pinpoint on anything, screenplay, dialogues, acting, excellent. one-liner was highlight of this film and most of them you can find in the gallis of Banaras. If Dhanush ruled the first half as innocent lover, Sonam Kapoor was awesome in second half. overall I will count this movie as one of the finest work of Hindi Cinema. Hats off to it's Director Mr. Anand Rai, I give it 9 out of 10 for a complete film.
... View Morethe movie was going quite good until the interval,it was fully guided what to do but after the inteval there was no need to involve political theme in the film that truly has led the entire movie down..i was expecting a very good in fact best 2nd half from the director but he didn't came to my expectation..dhanush was truly brilliant throughout the movie , abhay also played a good supportive character but it was also the storyline which led everything down in the end.. you just have to see this movie though because it will make you cry the ending was awesome.. one of the best ending i mean it in a emotional way it was one of the most emotional ending of a Hindi movie ever...
