In order to escape a greedy Pokémon hunter, Celebi must use the last of its energy to travel through time to the present day. Celebi brings along Sammy, a boy who had been trying to protect it. Along with Ash, Pikachu, and the rest of the gang, Sammy and Celebi must encounter an enemy far more advanced than the hunter, with the fate of the forest hanging in the balance.

The early Pokémon movies sure have their charm. This one is no exception. It's a step down from "The Power of One" and "Spell of the Unknown," but still a very worthy addition to the series. There are a few flaws. There are some stupid scenes which include Ash jumping on the boat while it's leaving, Misty twisting her knee, a pointless berry-picking scene, and a few others. Also, the villain, while certainly intimidating, is as clichéd as can be.However, the film makes up for that in many other ways. Celebi is a very cool Pokémon, and the mythology behind her is intriguing. The forest and the scenery in it is beautiful to look at. The CGI could have been better, though."Sammy" was a likable character, and I liked his relationship with Ash. I hope Ash later learned that "Sammy" is...you know.As to be expected, the final half-hour is action-packed and full of excitement, even if it doesn't quite match the Charizard/Entei battle from #3. Suicune's entrance was pretty awesome, too. While not quite as exciting as #2 or as dark and ambitious as #3, this still has plenty to offer for any Pokémon fan.RATING: B

I was a big Pokemon fan back when it was initially popular. I've not had a fix for a while and I decided that this, the fourth Pokemon feature film, would be good enough. It exceeded my expectations.Ash, eternal jailbate tease Misty, and Brock enter a mysterious forest in their ongoing travels which is inhabited by many rare Pokemon. Out of the blue a young boy appears with his newly befriended Celebi. He's time-traveled 40 years to escape a cruel Pokemon hunter but is soon on the run again when a new villain from Team Rocket turns up. The gang follow, keen to learn about Celebi and keep him safe. Jesse, James, and Meowth tag along in the background and provide the usual comic relief.Pokemon 4Ever feels a lot like a Hayao Miyazaki film with it's environmental message, forest setting/imagery, and beautifully detailed animation. The plot is also clever and has a surprisingly touching twist. I was very impressed with this sequel and I highly recommend it.The Western version of the film contains an extra scene at the end, explaining the twist with a little more clarity as it was originally only hinted at in the end credits, but not too many kids would hang around during the credits, so I can see why the Weinsteins would insist on it. But, for a change, it's not a Miramax alteration that voids the integrity of the film.

I so love this movie! The animation is great (for a pokémon movie), the cgi looks so awesome. I love the music in the movie. So great they kept the Japanese music. As for the story: its great. It has a great feeling of friendship. Celebi is a very cute and powerful pokémon. Ash is really great in this movie, and I like his friendship with Sam. The only thing I didn't like was Suicune's appearance, he just suddenly pops up, helps Ash & co a bit and leaves. They could have made his part in the movie a little bigger. But overall, awesome movie! Can't wait to own the USA version on dvd!

The movie seemed to appeal me because of the new type of Pokemon Celebi. But the plot was out of course and didn't have as an interest as the other movies. It was a waste of money and time. The same corny humor and cliche bad guys. The movie was of no use to make if you wanted to make Pokemon famous. The movie should better not associated with animes such as Dragonballz, Digimon, or Yu-Gi-Oh. The drawing and settings are of no level rising to the standards of original anime. It is a shame even to talk about this movie. I bet Pokemon fans will be disappointed with the outcome of the movie and give up on Pokemon. Digimon is more of an anime and doesn't fall anywhere close to Pokemon. It's second movie is coming out late 2002.
