Dear Bipin Chandran and Shibin Francis, I really liked the story that you guys came up with. The lives of two alcoholics (Prithviraj as Pambu Joy and Anoop Menon as Pavada Babu) are placed parallel to each other. They intersect when they are both locked up in a de-addiction center. Their escape and life together were interesting. Then there is a conflict when Joy discovers that Babu is the producer of a soft porn film which destroyed his mothers life. The rest of the film is about the resolution of this conflict. Nice Imagination! The possibilities were endless. However, the film was quite populist in its use of loud background score, double meaning jokes and references to older Malayalam movie dialogs and actors. I wish you guys had been more discreet while working on the screenplay. I was not bored during the first half which was loud and breezy. But the second half became too weepy. It would have turned out better in the hands of a classier director like Aashiq Abu or someone. There were issues with casting as well. Anoop Menon was awful as the older alcoholic. The role would have been perfect for Mohanlal. I was never a big fan of Prithviraj. Chemban Vinod Jose turns in another effortlessly good performance. Anyway, thanks for writing a movie with an alcoholic protagonist. I appreciate such films because I am a drinker myself. But next time, send your script to a good director. Best Regards, Pimpin. ... View MoreThis film was one of the most anticipated films of Malayalam in 2016, and people thought that the film would be good, like Action Hero Biju, but ended up, like Dilwale. Prithviraj tried his maximum in the film, to make the movie a hit. His acting as an alcoholic was a different one and didn't disappoint his fans and audience. Anoop Menon was as usual, nice. Mia George had no much role as Anoop Menon or Maniyan Pilla Raju has in the film. Asha Sarath too had a different look in the film. The worst thing of the film is the Direction. The film is too lagged and was very boring in the end and was too predictive. If he had ended the film in 2 hrs, I would have given the film at least 6 out of 10. The Script was good, as Prithviraj said, by Bipin Chandran, who already proved his eminence through films like 1983 and Best Actor. The direction has spoiled the script. The Art Direction and Cinematography had no work in the film. Location Department too had no much work as the film is set in an ordinary place. Those who wanted to watch this film, please avoid or you will lose your impression of Prithviraj. The film is below-average and is not at all recommended to watch.Adult Film - No | Family film - Hmm | Direction - 1.5/10 | Cinematography - 4/10 | Cast - 8/10 | Make Up - 8/10 | Songs - 7/10 | Background Score - 3/10 | Story - 6.5/10 | Climax - 6/10 | Art Direction - 2/10 | Location Department - 3/10 | Overall - 4.9/10 | My Rating - 5/10

View MoreA glorious year filled with box office success have passed, but it seems as if there's no looking back for Prithviraj Sukumaran and his inseparable connection with movies that have the tag of superhit written over it.Even though a bit on the lower side considering the sky-high expectations from Prithviraj after three brilliant movies in the recent past,Paavada is a really enjoyable mix of humor and sentiments that's mixed in right proportion by Bipin Chandran who earlier produced a brilliant entertainer in the form of '1983'.The movie started on a low note taking its time to register the characters in the story and as such was slow to role but gained the pace as the story progressed, reaching the peak by the end of the initial hour. The scenes just before the interval were handled very well by Marthandan and the best part of the 147minutes long storyline. The second half was slightly better in comparison with the first and turned more serious without losing the grip on the viewers and ended with a neat climax that received good response from the majority of the crowd. The climax has a surprise cameo which went well on screen. The sequences where Prithviraj enacted diaogues from 'PazhassiRaja' and 'Sagar Alias Jackie' received overwhelming response from the crowd and was presented really well. The storyline is simple and has its share of minor loopholes which doesn't turn hiccups in a smooth experience due to the emotional connect that the movie maintains till the end of the presentation.Marthandan can take a big sigh of relief after the poorly presented box office dud 'Acha Din' and did a decent job handling the screenplay by Bipin Chandranwithout much faults to point out. This one is certainly his career best flick and much better in comparison with 'Dhaivathinte Swantham Cleetus' which too was a box office success. The heart of the movie is Prithviraj and he stole the show yet another brilliant performance that upholds his improvement in handling humor and controlled emotional sequences. The ease with which he enacted the drunkard 'Joy' is appreciable and makes the character close to the heart of the viewers.Anoop Menon gave good support to Prithviraj and excelled in the post interval portions in particular.Asha Sarath was impressive.Miya did her part well.Nedumudi Venu,Maniyanpilla Raju,Sunil Sukhadaa etc were adequate.Songs by Aby Tom Cyriac were 'kickass' and lifted the mood to another level by energetic performance from Prithviraj and the rest of the cast.BGM by Gopi Sunder too was good particularly towards the sentimental sequences.Cuts by John Kutty were smooth and the cinematography by Pradeep Nair was impressive.Overall,Paavada is decent entertainer that's definitely worth watching worth the price of the ticket paid.
