Earl Montgomery, a bombastic police academy reject, and Hank Rafferty, a disgraced, mild-mannered cop, can't seem to escape each other. They met on opposite sides of the law during a routine traffic stop that escalated out of control; now as lowly security guards they're thrown together to bust a smuggling operation.

L.A. cops Charlie and Hank respond to what they believe is a false alarm. It is not, but they went to check out the situation just in case. Charlie is killed.Earl wants to be an L.A. cop but his outrageous and reckless behavior gets him kicked out of the academy. Never mind that Earl can do no wrong because any criticism from whites is the result of racism against black people.Hank is bitter about losing his partner, so it doesn't help matters that he is the one who catches Earl trying to break into his own car. And Earl is allergic to bees so when a bee complicates the situation and Hank tries to swat the bee, and Earl is mostly behind the car so the person videotaping the scene can't really tell what's going on ...It's Rodney King all over again. And the joke of a trial gets Hank sent up the river.Six months later, Earl and Hank work for the same security company. Hank ends up at the Coca-Cola warehouse where Earl works because, while the guys who got Charlie killed are up to no good, Earl is making out with the secretary. The result: a whole lot of wasted soda.Earl and Hank now have to learn to work together so they can catch the guys responsible for Charlie's death. Never mind that they are not real cops. The results are hilarious and fun. There is even an exciting car chase which results in the pursuing cop cars turning upside down. This is just a fun movie with some explosions, crashes and other excitement and plenty of laughs. Don't look for outstanding acting or writing, but to me Martin Lawrence is quite appealing despite his constant racist attitude. Toward the end, this is actually pretty good as the guys work toward solving the mystery. One actor stands out: Cleo King is a black woman who picks up the guys when they need a ride. And she won't take any attitude, though she is really a nice person. She's not around long.Martin Lawrence's stunt man (or men) does an impressive job. It's scary what they let him do.Don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed.

First of, this movie was alright and even hilarious at times...for the first 10 minutes. After that, this movie sunk faster than the Titanic.I'm not sure what the creators of this movie were smoking that made them think it was an action or crime movie, and the only crime was that this movie cost me $0 but cost me 20 minutes of my life. Yes, I stopped watching it. That is the proof of a good movie. I was not paying a dime to see it, and I stopped watching it. I would rather watch a squirrel scratch its back than have finished this movie. The only funny part of this movie was watching Earl Montgomery (Martin Lawrence) was doing the police training exercise and when Earl called officer Hank Rafferty (Steve Zahn) a Nazi, and I'm white. Besides that, nothing much for me. To each their own I guess, and this gets thrown into the same dumpster as Waynes World.

Martin Lawrence is somewhat of an acquired taste. Not as obnoxious as Eddie Murphy but not as enjoyable as Will Smith. He's approximately right between them (along with Chris Tucker). He and Steve Zahn are quite well when paired together. Lawrence's humor contrasts Zahn's anger beautifully especially as the movie progressed. At times the plot was a bit extreme, but overall it was well-paced and fun. And while there weren't very many new ideas used for the genre, I loved the driver's ed car scene very much. If you're looking for a good buddy cop movie, check this out or try Cop Out.Also, Earl Jr. was my favorite character, easily.

I know Martin Lawrence isn't the best actor in the world, but does he really have to play the exact same character in every movie? I mean, I liked him in "Nothing To Lose". Then I moved on. In this one he tries out the buddy cop genre once again, but the chemistry with Steve Zahn just isn't there, which makes everything seem so forced. Especially the emotional scenes are as useless as can be. Watching Lawrence act like he cares about the other guy's paper-thin back story is painful to watch. Then again, the actors probably aren't the biggest problem, given that not even Mel Gibson and Danny Glover could make this screenplay work. A lazy stock crime plot spiced up with no laughs whatsoever isn't exactly my favourite way of spending an evening. At barely an hour and a half I can say that this movie is mercifully short , but that's pretty much all I've got.
