Mitchell Trailers

A tough-guy cop pursues two drug runners across the city to bust a large syndicate. Very much an anti-hero, Mitchell often ignores the orders of his superiors and demonstrates disdain for by-the-book development work as well as normal social graces.

I saw this as an MST3K episode and to me, the three guys commenting on everything is really annoying, not to mention that they shortened it and kept adding little skits of their own. This all rather ruined the experience. With that in mind, I don't think there is actually that much of a movie to ruin. The story of Mitchell, a boozed up, sleazy, play-by-his-own-rules cop fighting mafia type criminals seems more suitable for a low budget TV show than anything else. The poor acting, the lackluster action, the cliché story line, it' all there, just cobble together an episode each week and you have your show.

A ten, you say? Sure, you might admit, Mitchell is decent, certainly better than the usual MST fare. But a ten on IMDb?Let me justify: As a fan of many movies, not just those with big budgets or respected reputations, I am willing to address a film on its own terms. And, having done so with Mitchell, I am proud and unabashed to state that it is a great movie. The plot is easily navigable, and contains a handful of genuinely intriguing moments. In addition, several of the characters, including even Mitchell himself, are somewhat morally ambiguous, lending a certain credibility to the film.Sure, it's 70s fabulous, and parts of it are slow-developing. However, those facts are easily ignored when one chooses to focus on the acting performances in the movie, perhaps highlighted by the work of Martin Balsam, who plays the shrewd yet compromised white-collar gangster. Indeed, his performance is to be commended. And the same goes for the rest of the cast: in almost every case, the actors and actresses do a commendable job, including that object of so much comedic ridicule, Joe Don himself.Bottom line, this is a cool, fun renegade cop movie, and I highly recommend it, in either version (original or MST3K). Enjoy, please!!

While this is a regrettable and wholly forgettable movie... there is the briefest of scenes when the bad guys send Linda Evans... playing the part of a $1,000 a night prostitute to Bakers apartment with the idea that she will keep him busy for the night and persuade him to drop the case. She arrives unannounced at his door in a slinky dress and boots to Baker's just stepped out of the shower in a towel and revolver. He offers her something to drink, and being a manly man...only has beer to offer which she accepts while sitting on the couch. Baker, standing over her pours the beer into a glass (she is a lady after all) and while observing her lovely figure overflows the glass and pours beer down her legs and boots to which he says.. "Oh, I guess the beer got excited.. do you want me to get you a towel?" Linda eyes him back shaking the beer from her boots and asks "Do you want to lick it off?" I don't remember the rest of the movie after that point as I lost concentration and was never able to get past that part.

You know that a movie is really bad when the best scene in it is when a woman is wearing a dress that shows her entire back torso. That's the case with "Mitchell", a fourth-rate cop flick with Joe Don Baker as the title character going after drug dealers. It isn't even so bad that it's good; it's so bad that it makes you feel like your brain just turned into mashed potatoes (in fact, that statement is insulting to mashed potatoes). Fortunately, hope is not lost: "MST3K" showed this hunk of junk and Joel, Servo and Crow had lots to say about it. As it was, that was Joel's final episode, as he was replaced by Mike. Mike did an equally good job helping the 'bots mock crummy movies.
