Well, not badly filmed, not with bad intentions, not bad actors (just not acting as well as they have done) but just so slow. Not moody, arty, make you think slow but boring, s.l.o.w. slow. Not a lot of dialogue (this works for some films but not this one), lots of lingering shots of place, people and their faces looking at the sky, each other and anything else.I loved Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator, but his JC wouldn't inspire anyone to follow him. A sort of mumbling, stumbling, scruffy JC with nice eyes though. And although biblically there is not a lot on Magdalene (as it happens I had been reading the gospels recently) and the film acknowledges its artistic licence, there is also not a lot in the film about her - mainly she is used as the observer for the JC story (and we all know the ending of that, so I don't think it counts as a plot spoiler).I am not sure of the target audience for this film - if you like biblical based adaptations then it is unlikely you will like this. If you don't then it is unlikely you would even watch it in the first place. On the positive, there at least seems to have been an attempt to recreate the historical setting and context - at least within the limits that commercial film making allows.Overall, a reasonable concept disappointingly executed. I can't recommend it.

But, political correctness absolutely ruins it. I gave it 2 stars for the entertainment factor. Otherwise, it could very well be intended to deliver an anti-Christian message of which I strongly disapprove.

No aporta nada. No es que sea fría, es que es sosa.La dirección. Pues más de lo mismo. Hace una película aburrida. No hace nunca planos bonitos. No sabe narrar con la cámara. Incluso a veces toma a los actores de lado y no se les ve bien.Yo no la recomendaría. If I had to decide if I became a believer by seeing this Jesus, the answer is clear, I do not become a believer. I can not imagine a Jesus Christ as interpreted in this film. The film is not passionate and see that talking about Christ, if he has no passion, bad.The actress is fine, well no, she does not tell me anything either. It does not transmit me love, or passion, or anything at all.I do not think it's a feminist version, the truth is, it's a person more after all.The lighting is very much in line with the film, it is insubstantial. It does not support the movie at all. He supports with nothing. It's not that it's cold, it's that it's bland. The direction. Well more of the same. It makes a boring movie. It never makes beautiful shots. He does not know how to narrate with the camera. Even sometimes it takes the actors aside and it does not look good.I would not recommend it

The 6 stars are for the actors, the quality of the images and the bravery to make a movie about such a controversial subject. I am sadden for the fact that the plot has so many holes that even being a Christian (myself) didn't help. Christ journey during his last 3 years on earth was so immeasurably profound it changes lives to this day, 2000 years after. I was expecting that bringing the role of Mary Magdalene into light would make a fabulous complement. It didn't.
