Awkwardly Original it is indeed. Robert Porigi used and idea that I haven't seen in a horror before but used it in a basic plot so well. The thing that makes the movie even more better is that the lead male and female were attractive people having normal jobs so there more comparable to the everyday person..Love Object follows Kenneth go from normal shy attractive guy to struggling to tell whats reality and not leading to fatal consequences. Kenneth is a very handsome young man who has a good job as a technical writer, but behind his exterior he is a loner wanting a girlfriend. One day at work his colleague's are passing around a postcard offering a custom made sex doll to your choice for 10k dollars. Ken buys one and calls it Nicki, it looks like fellow colleague Lisa whom he is infatuated by. Soon enough he has Nicki dressing like her and even listening to the same music starting to become a little obsessed. Its when Kenneth wants to start dating Lisa the movie gets dark, so as he is dating a human he has no need for Nicki anymore. Kenneth starts to believe Nicki is not only just following him but telling him to do stuff which leads to fatal consequences...As a horror its a little out there not a cliché plot but it has dark humour and suspense keeps a dull looking movie alive

All the elements of "Love Object" can be found in other films, but the writer/director does a good job of building them into a surprising...and surprisingly creepy...film that's entirely his own. Throw in a few fake-outs, including a feint or two near the conclusion, and you end up with a very watchable and entertaining film. I really enjoy thrillers of this type and consider myself pretty blasé about most plot developments, but I have to confess that I said, "Oh, no...he's not going to do that, is he?" out loud several times while watching this. The direction is competent, even if fairly uninspired. It gets the job done. The acting is highly variable, though, and I have to blame the director a bit for this. It's clear that the leads can carry it off, if directed properly, but some scenes give the appearance of first takes. It's almost as if the actors are doing a run-through or a blocking take. Desmond Harrington is the most uniform, but even he stumbles a couple times. Rip Torn is surprisingly self-controlled and really adds to the film.I've always said that the essence of "creepy and unnerving" is NOT to show us people doing things that are unimaginable. It's to show us people doing things that leave us thinking, "I wonder if, under the right circumstances, I might do something similar." That's the essence of "Love Object." Recommended for fans of creepy psychological horror.

Oh, Kenneth, Kenneth, Kenneth (Desmond Harrington). What a loser. Hiding in the closet to listen to your neighbor have sex when the new girl (Melissa Sagemiller) is just as lonely as you. Step up there, boy, and get some action.Kenneth decides to try something different. A $10,000 plastic doll. Yep, they are real (On sale at http://ultradolls.com/).Kenneth's relationship with the doll reflects his real feeling for Lisa (Sagemiller), and soon he has enough nerve to make a move. But, as things progress with Lisa, he starts imagining that his doll is jealous and, after a bad night with Lisa, he takes a drastic and horrible step. This is when things gets really weird, and exciting at the same time. He snaps completely and just when we think he is toast, he manages to have heaven intervene and save him. I can't say more than that without giving away the plot, but it certainly was well done.Rip Torn was great as his boss, and Udo Kier played an excellent role.Looking for more from first time writer/director Robert Parigi.

What is so scary about puppets? There have been a few movies that handled the human fear for the puppet (such as pin and child's play) but this movie is the absolute king of its genre, if you can call this a genre that is.The movie is about Kenneth, a frustrated and socially isolated young man who embarks on a strange sexual relationship with a love doll. The thing that I really liked about this movie is the music. It's very subtle and tells a lot about what is going to happen or gives you an unpleasant feeling. This is not a scary movie, although you will get goosebumps from time to time. I think in a certain way it's a very real movie about how people can drive themself mad. You see it all coming (at least I did) and I kept telling myself "OH GOD! HE'S NOT REALLY DOING THIS" but he was. It's a honest and shocking movie with a terrific ending.I am not going to spoil anything but you should watch this and then you must agree with me that the ending of this movie is the best part!. But still all of it is good, 10/10
