I originally found this film because of the director's youtube channel (The Receptionist.) I watched it back in 2010, and the film has always stuck with me ever since. It's funny, it's original, and the writing was terrific. The character's kept on surprising me, and the plot had the perfect amount of twists. I feel like most people don't give the film a chance because of the low budget, but it gave the film a unique feel. The sets were very limited, and not the best quality, but it made you like the film even more. The movie was great on it's own merit, with no fancy frills to distract you from the writing. Over-all I would say it is definitely the time.
... View MoreWell, I thought this movie was amazing. I found it as a recommendation on my Netflix and thought I'd give it a try since I love horror/cult classics. Well, it's not exactly a horror movie, at least in the strict sense. But, it is very amusing and different. It's very minimalistic; most of the story takes place with no scenery. It's just Justin and Lo. Lo has quite a way with words. In fact, I found the dialog witty and at times unexpectedly deep despite its obvious humor. The musical numbers are hilarious. I also really enjoyed the concept of viewing your relationship from the outside, because reality may be very different from your perceptions. Anyway, great low budget movie. I can't see it being a film that everyone will see, but it's definitely a great movie for a quirky audience.
... View MoreLo is one of my all time favorite movies. Sure the acting is over the top at times and the film must have had a budget of about $20 bucks, but it doesn't matter. Why? Because the story is engaging, darkly funny, emotional, and satisfying. The story is extremely original. The style is unique. The ending is incredible. It's short, sweet, and right to the point. It's beautiful, quirky. I love this movie. Of course everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, but I fail to see what's not to like about this truly unique and clever movie. I loved every second of it, but the ending makes up for any flaws that the first 70 minutes might have had.
... View MoreLo is more than just good. It's a masterpiece. There's something so strange and satisfying about this smart and clever little film. The plot is simple. Boy meets girl. girl gets kidnapped by demon. Guy teams up with different demon to get girl back.Sounds basic, but it works and the narrative is surprisingly rather complex and undeniably entertaining. This is a movie that will (or at least should) go down as a cult classic like Donnie Darko or the Rocky Horror picture show. It just goes to show that movies don't need massive budgets to be good. Just a good script...and $40.
