This is definitely a B- movie. But it has an A list cast and a genuinely funny, bad it is so good, script. Just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. A list actors hamming it up in a B- movie. The rest of my review is to meet IMDb's 5 line minimum review. They obviously did not get the less is more snapchat (I would have said memo, but I don't think people do those now. I think it is all snapchat, whatsapp or periscope now. Those have probably gone the way of friends reunited and MySpace in the time it has taken you to read this.)Fun movie, watch it. Fills in some time between birth and death when you are not too busy being awesome.
... View MoreKnights of Badassdom is a disappointing schlock B grade horror/comedy film about a bunch of role players and dungeon & dragon freaks that somehow unleash a succubus from an ancient book of spells purchased online. There are moments of comedy but the director is too busy slaughtering its cast rather nastily and wastes its good cast (literally as some of them die early on) like Peter Dinklage, Danny Pudi and Steve Zahn.Maybe the film wanted to be a homage to The Evil Dead movies but it seems their was post production interference which resulted in this incoherent mess.At least Dinklage gets to do some cool badass slaughtering eventually.
... View MoreI enjoyed this movie more than I expected to as I initially had pretty low hopes. It has a much darker and depressive tone than I was expecting but has a few funny moments. It's hard not to naturally laugh at LARPers as they're a special kind of geek but they're also pretty endearing. The characters start off pretty pathetic but with time it starts to get more interesting. It probably didn't actually pick up until halfway into the movie when sh!t starts going down. They start to get more courageous and the movie is generally more entertaining. You can tell it's a low budget flick and it unfortunately can come off as cheap. It's pretty weak artistically but it's not a bad watch.
... View MoreLARP's on a lark get chewed up and spit out for laughs in "Knights of Badassdom" (BTW: a terrible title!). The elaborate medieval role players are nothing but gore fodder, the production values are surprisingly high (the costumes are brilliant) and one of my favorite actresses (Summer Glau) is a highlight as she vamps it up in a pretty-good bad movie. This movie is made to order for Riff Trax, or just gather your nerdiest friends for a night of (deliberately) cringe-worthy dialogue and as fine a rednecks vs. nerds battle as has ever been filmed.I would compare this movie to "Sharknado" in that both give the impression of being movies that were originally written as serious genre films (disaster and horror respectively) and someone had the sense to make them so over the top as to become entertaining camp.
