I hardly ever give movies 1 out of 10. a 1 to me indicates that NOTHING was done correctly. To get a one every single thing in the movie has to fail and for me to get actually angry at the film's existence. Unfortunately the planets aligned when they released Jin-roh the Wolf brigade. I saw this movie YEARS ago and every single stupid thing about this film still irritates me. The plot is one of the most stupid boring things I have ever had the misfortune to come across. Some girl blows herself up and the guy who saw her do it talks to her sister. That's really all this movie is. And even THAT makes it sound more interesting than it actually is. The characters are bland, the story is stupid, and the ending (while i won't give it away because i want to avoid clicking the spoiler tag) is one of the most insulting things I have ever seen in my life. They were trying way too hard to make their movie dramatic and have some sort of drama and connection to little red riding hood but it just came off pretentious and annoying.I will say this. basically, if you're a fancy pants art student and you want to sniff other people's pretentious piles of garbage, then you will be right at home watching this. However if you are someone who just wants to watch a fun anime movie maybe with some good action with some military police flair, do NOT watch this movie. It is NOT fun, it is NOT interesting, and all it does is leave you with a sense of 'Why in god's name did I watch this?' The fact that the people who made this thought they were making 'art' is probably what drives me the most insane about this movie. Making your movie sad and depressing does not make it art. It only helps make it schlock. If you want a movie that's artsy and also really good, go watch Millennium Actress. This. God, just thinking about this movie pisses me off. That's probably why it gets a 1. The art is fine, the voice acting is okay. It's not that. It's the fact that this movie's plot is so so awful and they treat it like it's some tragic classic tale when in actuality it's art school garbage. 1 out of 10.
... View MoreNotable drama about our fears, doubts, actions for which we regret... The film mix a good script with a very elaborated story, Mamoru Oshii work about a man who see how a girl commits suicide, been able to shoot before this happened, but not do it, and casually, he meet the girl's sister, and he fall in love. Sometimes the film may seem a slow story, but it doesn't. It is an unknown little jewel of anime, sad and beautiful. I can highlight the beauty a delicate music of a very good composer, but not well known, Hajime Mizoguchi. I like very much the diverted history. It's very curious the idea of a Japan who lost the war, but not against EEUU, but against Germany. Highly recommended.
... View MoreJin-Roh, is a very impressive movie from a technical stand point. What is perhaps, most impressive about it, is the plot twists as well as the story. Jin-Roh gives new meaning to the word "Betrayel". It's truly a frightening movie from that point of view. It has a strange artistic look to it. It doesn't seem very Japanese. It's much to dark, gloomy and depressing. The action is far and in between, but when it comes, it is very good. The plot is not the most important thing about the movie. It's more the relationship between the characters. I guess, to be fair, the weakest aspect of Jin-Roh, is definitely that it can feel very slow and stretched out. It has this calm and gritty feel to it, but when things start to happen, the viewer sits on the edge of their seats and wait what will happen.Jin-Roh is betrayal in a movie. It's a very unique anime that totally goes away from the anime mainstream, which makes it difficult to compare it to anything actually. And while it may be slow and a bit at drag at time, it's definitely worth watching, just for the sake of it.7/10
... View MoreI was browsing Fox Digital one night, very bored, looking for something to watch when I stumbled upon the world movies channel and just at the beginning of a film called Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade.Intending to just watch a little of it, I ended up watching the whole movie till somewhere between 4 and 5 am in the morning, and I had to wake up the next day (or that day if you want to be correct) at 9 am.I guess one could say that the movie really dragged me in. The almost melancholy approach from the protagonist along with the twists and turns in the story bundled up a nice package. I intend on finding a copy somewhere and watching it again.Good movie.
