This used to be my favourite childhood movie, as I would watch with my family. It's very relaxing and all about family and togetherness. As a child, I loved this movie. But, now that I am older, I have realized hidden messages that as a child, I never knew. This movie is highly 'patriarchal', based on males, and male importance. I noticed that the three actresses don't have any mothers at all, only fathers. The males are more of the main characters for some reason, and their full homes and families are shown. The women are subservient to the men, and there's so much sexism. Great when I was a child and had no idea about these things, but now I know this is the kind of crap it has.Anyways, my rating is based on my childhood viewpoint on it.
... View MoreI loved this film it just the right amount of substance of everything...The characters and acting was just what i needed to see.M. Bahl superb, S Khan, Great, SA Khan wonderful, K Kapoor Tremendous, S. Bendre Amazing TABU was great addition, I'm glad Madhuri did not star she would have spoilt it... Suttle all through this film so much emotion... love comedy anger fear happiness...Just the right balance.I loved Maine Pyar Kiya. Hated Hum aapke Hai Kaun. I Loved this film.Family saga with actors acting brilliantly thats rare in bollywood.. We usually stick a star or model in and let their name sell the movie but the actors have sold this movie. People like Shah Rukh Khan Madhuri Aishwaria would have made increased the revenue in the first day because of their status and their acting ability or lack of it would have sank it...When are we seeing the next oneI cant wait to see the original cast of Rajshiri Productions to do magic again I hope people of this films can be put in a film again...
... View MoreSheesh....what a nightmare. What was Sooraj Barjatya thinking?? Is this the same guy that made classics like MPK and HAHK? Hard to believe it is. What mainly made MPK and HAHK so good was the chemistry between the lead pair(SK-Bhagyashree and SK-Madhuri) and the music by Ram-Laxman. HSSH neither has the music and definitely doesn't have the chemistry of the central characters, CUZ THIS STINKER IS PACKED WITH A MILLION CHARACTERS. By the time u get to know whose who, u don't really care what the heck is going on. A huge problem with HSSH is how corny this HUMUNGOUS 'family' is. While MPK and HAHK displayed family values with heart and honesty; the ultra sweet characters in HSSH mouth all the sugar-coated dialogues with such artificiality that u have a hard time liking these guyz. Barjatya's story-telling was superb in HAHK, but here he makes HSSH feel more like a stage drama. The screen play is lacking the juice that would make u care for the characters. Another BIG LETDOWN is Salman Khan. The biggest star of MPK and HAHK is relegated to just being a supporting man in HSSH. He gets to play a shy character who doesn't say much and Salman looks downright uninterested through 3/4 of the movie.Bottomline: HSSH badly wants to be like HAHK, but is highly lacking the subtlety and charm that made us fall in love with that 1994 classic.
... View MoreVery family oriented film. Acting was good and the girls looked lovely and danced well. Music was credible and cinemetography was good. Sooraj Barjatya again takes a familiar storyline and makes it a show worth watching.
