There was an ingenious concept to this combination caper and romantic comedy. From start to finish, the film never takes itself too seriously, and the result is pure entertainment.Much credit belongs to the screenwriter who blended the production of Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard" occurring in an old Buffalo theater next to the city bank. The robbers (James Caan, Keanu Reeves) ingeniously burrow into the bank vault from beneath the theater in order to rob the bank. The best scenes are from the Chekhov play, as reality blends with the stage drama in the relationship of Vera Farmiga's character Madame Ranevskaya and Reeves' Lopahkin. When the actors begin improvising lines, the audience loves it! One of the best characters in the film is the police officer who becomes the "inside man" for the bank heist. Some of the lines and deadpan humor are priceless, making "Henry's Crime" a true joy.

Based on prior reviews I watched this movie and kept hoping it would get better. There was a major disconnect between the characters. It was like watching a bad play within a bad play. Bad acting, bad directing and bad producing. This movie does not draw you in and does not make you connect with or like any of the characters. Keanu Reeves is so monotone for most of the film. Perhaps in the beginning he is supposed to be, but his character never really develops. Even the so called "love" or "romance" scenes do not draw you in. The whole movie seems staged and fake. Don't waste your time. You're not missing anything by skipping over this one.

This movie is better than good.Multi layered and with a great score , both in cast, city outlook and soundtrack. The acting is far good; James Caan's con for life is a doppfelgänger for Bukowski. Not much trust in the human race per se. They are all up to and beyond par. The bleak ambiance in prison 1 and 2 is rock solid. And using Tjekov as part of the story gives both slapstick and love. Enjoy See the movie10 lines, OK? I liked the movie. Want to see Jamea Caan play Bukowski, he 's got the moves. Barbet S. If you read this, call him. Your are the guy to make a dream come true
