The Hellraiser franchise has undergone a series of misfires from poor scripts, plots and characterization as it goes toe to toe with Friday the 13th for bad sequels. In surprised at this point Doug Bradly wants his name associated with This unless he really needed work. The movie plays on the current trend of video games based on the movie Hellraiser. You have the breakfast club of a jock, out caste, criminal and pretty girl all mourning the lost of their friend who was addicted to the game and mysteriously died a year ago. They head inside the world of the game looking for clues at a party in a mansion that looks it was taken straight out of a Scooby doo cartoon. The plot thickens as Lance Henrisken, the father, who wants the punish the kids for not saving his son and places them in coffins underneath the ground. It had more jokes then swish cheese from the villains motives, his plans, who are the other party goers and leaves it open on if pinhead is real or not?The characters were one dimensional stereotypes who you never feel sympathy for or care what happens to them. Its confused on What it wants to be a horror thriller, comedy from the absurdity on the while project or a porno from the graphic nudity they through in for the heck of It.Hellraiser has fallen away into direct to video category for good reason.

The picture begins in the Roman Catholic setting: nuns, so-so sculpture, churches, services for the dead, dreary music, and stained glass windows. Coincident and discordant with that, we have young adults (well, children in adult bodies) who look all correct in their level of solemnity, which they will soon enough chuck off as just another aspect of their hypocrisy. These are the folk headed for the grinder. The protagonist group (Chelsea, Mike, Allison, Derrick, Jake, Adam) were all addicted to the MMORPG video game 'Hellworld,' and have come to the funeral of Adam. Adam apparently committed suicide after a period of instability. Jake is a bit stand-offish at the funeral because he thought the other four spent too much time at the game while Adam was in trouble. If the titles are to be believed, two years go by. The sub-group (Chelsea, Mike, Allison, Derrick) get tickets to the 5th annual secret Hellworld party at a large semi-secluded mansion. They meet Jake there, somewhat to their surprise.Since they are first time party attendees, The Host shows them around his collection of Hellworld memorabilia. All of them are quite impressed. The building is called Leviathan House, and supposedly was designed by Phillip Lemarchand. The house was originally a nunnery until 80 nuns went missing. Then it became a house for the criminally insane, and developed a history of paranormal violence. The staff took a bit of a wrong turn when they all took local anesthetics and proceeded to dismember each other.Chelsea shows open skepticism to The Host. He shows her a powerful hallucination in which he introduces himself as Pinhead. All this is shrugged off, and they go to the party for getting drunk with masks on.After that, we get down to divide and conquer. The protagonists have some rather bad experiences, and the elimination derby is on.Allison walks into a room marked 'Keep out.' She should have done that. Chelsea thinks she sees Adam, and pursues. Jake goes exploring too, and meets Pinhead. Then he notices that no one acknowledges him, except someone who has been dead for years. Derrick goes looking for love, but needs his inhaler. He just cannot get to it on the dance floor, and has to search hard to find it. Mike finds a young woman who gives him some physical attention. Chelsea calls him, but he cannot be bothered. Then his hallucinations start.Chelsea stays a bit aloof, and resists the goings-on the best. Will she survive the party?-----Scores----- Cinematography: 5/10 A lot of VHS quality, which is disappointing. Then again, this picture was straight-to-video.Sound: 4/10 Music by Lars Anderson was not effective.Acting: 3/10 Lance Henriksen seemed a touch not involved, but still delivered his lines professionally. Doug Bradley was good, as usual, in his short role. The other actors just sucked rocks. This definitely includes Henry Cavill, who later played Superman in Man of Steel (2013).Screenplay: 4/10 There is some very terrible dialog, followed by more. "Like a bad horror movie, isn't it?" The Host asked Chelsea. Motivations were often unclear. The story seemed merely an elimination derby for twenty somethings with a Hellraiser setting. The double reverse at the end was moderately interesting, and was the basic reason for 2/5 instead of 1/5.

This was the eighth film in the series, and the fourth film to be released straight to DVD, and for the moment anyway it looked like the last film to star the original actor playing the part of the iconic villain, I knew it was going to be silly. Basically a group of youths have all been playing an internet computer game based on the Hellraiser series called Hellworld, they have all become addicted, and many of them have accepted an invitation from the game to attend a private fan party. Four of the party goers are friends Chelsea (Katheryn Winnick), Allison (Anna Tolputt), Derrick (Khary Payton) and Mike (Henry Cavill) two years since it happened are still mourning after the death or their friend Adam who committed suicide, their former friend Jake (Christopher Jacot) blames them for his death, he has only attended the party to meet a female gamer he has got to know online. It becomes obvious at the event, inside an isolated mansion, however that middle-aged party Host (Lance Henriksen) has nasty intentions for some of his guests, he shows them individually his private macabre collection of demonic objects and possessions, and one by one he kills them in malicious ways. The puzzle box, the Lament Configuration, is of course in amongst the things hidden in the house, and when it is opened the torture on the guests only increases when the Cenobite leader Pinhead (Doug Bradley) appears to punish people for their horrible pasts. It comes to the point when the last remaining victim tries to get the police to help, and ends up outside trying to escape, and the Host reveals that the other victims are not actually dead, she and they were all put in trances to see themselves and each other die in the ways they did, and in fact they are all buried alive. In the end the Host ends up being a victim himself when Pinhead punishes him for his evil crimes, and the last survivor is the only one to get out of their grave alive, the other victims die seemingly natural deaths from their injuries and symptoms of burial, the demon disappears, but the puzzle box remains. Also starring Stelian Urian as Adam. Being the last time Bradley plays Pinhead it is a short sequence of appearances and he only brings a little gravitas like he used to, Henriksen is an alright choice for the main villain besides the demon, but he is pointless casting, the story within the story is a bit of silly thing see occur, the concept of inviting people to a house to be killed one by one is nothing new, and the moments of death and torture are wasted, it is a rubbish, boring and pointless horror thriller. Pretty poor!

Don't why but I blame Halloween: Resurrection (2002) for this , I hated that so much, yet this is not as bad that but it that far be hide it all. Most of the movie I just had Halloween 8 all over again. I thought last was really bad but this one even worse one in the whole series (No I won't counting in the Revelations as not going bother with it all )Gamers playing a MMORPG based on the "Hellraiser" franchise find their lives endangered after being invited to a rave whose host intends to show them the truth behind the Cenobite mythos.I found first half of hour of movie was just a waste of time, were nothing really happens, I Don't mind slow start, at least give us something to chew on for a bit but nothing. Then the teens are getting killed in this movie , some of the death scene are bloody but in a way they looked really cheap.the effect were not that good at all, However did seem have a bit more bloody moment in this movie then last few sequels (Which dose not make good Hellrasier movie)The acting ( If you can call it that) from all teens. they were do dame annoying. i was fast forward some parts of the movie, voice started get on nerve. And the twist was was utter rubbish, its so predicable from the first moment the movie startedThe bland twist kind fitted in well with rest of the movie which was very bland indeed.1 out of 10
