This sequel takes everything that was decent about the first one and craps all over it.Literally, it spends an hour and a half sucking itself off with the whole "The first movie was real!" nonsense. Plus, this time around, we've got weed-smoking college kids who laugh loud and scream even louder. The effects are better, but when all they do is show giant moronic zombies chasing after the camera with that clichéd distorted movement thing that made Kayako from The Grudge so creepy (but of course, it doesn't really work here), who cares? It's got the whole half-assed package of jump scares (complete with sudden loud noises edited into the footage) and none of the cleverness of the original (yes, the original at least had SOME clever ideas and stuff, but not that much). The movie is a chore to sit through, and you'll probably find yourself constantly checking the runtime to see how much longer you have to wait for the credits.Give it a pass, or just watch the first one again. Or not. I guess it all depends on how productive you'd like to be during a quiet afternoon.
... View MoreA pretty decent sequel. All the video chat crap is pretty irritating. Nonetheless, film student Alex Wright(Richard Harmon)becomes obsessed with a horror flick that went viral on YouTube. It has been a year since a film crew spent a fatal night at a psychiatric hospital and for some reason is being covered up, as it really did not happen as depicted to millions of stunned PC screen watchers. Alex is so consumed by GRAVE ENCOUNTERS that he convinces a group of friends, most non-believers, to find the Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital in search of the truth. What they find are dark halls, empty rooms; all the remnants of a deserted hospital. They set up their cameras and all seems quiet until like a demon out of hell causes paranormal activity. A terrified camera crew now believes Alex...that *h!# really did happen in the movie. As the group gets smaller and all power is lost, pure evil is discovered. Not so bad for a "found lost footage" type flick. There are some scary moments; but there is also some cheesy special effects and real bad acting. I think it is bad enough to be good! Like I said, after the video chat lead in is over with GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 2 is more than tolerable. Also getting cast credits are: Stephanie Bennett, Dylan Playfair, Howie Lai, Leann Lapp and Sean Rogerson.
... View MoreThe first movie in the series was very good and original. If you watched the first grave encounters and hope to see a movie compare to it, your going to be disappointed. The movie leaves it open at the end which leaves audiences to believe that they will take one more stab at grave encounters, hopefully this time they go for it and finish with the magic they started with. In my opinion this movie is a pass, even for netflix subscribers. The biggest flaw with this movie is the 45 minute build up to the the point we're they actually enter the building from the first movie. The movie itself is only 90 minutes long, they will lose you well before they attempt to bring you back with some ghost like activity, which is also weaker than in the original movie.
... View MoreGreetings from Lithuania."Grave Encounters" 2 (2012) is a follow up to great horror flick "Grave Encounters". I loved the first part, so i really wanted to check this sequel. Unfortunately, this is not as good as the first part, but i kinda liked it and mainly because i loved first movie. Grave Encounters 2 is definitely for those who loved first picture, if didn't - don't even bother with the sequel. It has some crazy and fantasy style ending, not much of horror, more of nonsense to be honest. Acting was just OK, but nothing memorable.Overall, if you really liked first part, you can try and check this one, you can even like it, but i think it's a sequel for die hard fans of first movie.
