This movie is finally coming out it the US!!!!! I have been waiting for this movie forever. The first Goal movie was one of my favorite movies of all time. I love football(soccer) and after having to watch so many baseball movies I am happy to finally have a movie series about the sport that I like and play. It really is an inspiring story about believing in yourself and triumphing over adversity. The characters are developed nicely and the love story is even handled in a very good way and does not feel tacked on like it does in so many other sports movies. Santiago comes from Los Angeles to Newcastle and then plays at the world famous Real Madrid. My favorite player David Beckham is in this movie too. We were not lucky enough for "Zidane a 21st Century portrait" to come out in the US so this is your only chance to see Zidane in film. Come on and support proper football in the US and see this movie!!!
... View MoreI've watched both the goal movies and what i feel is that the music doesn't give that much support to the screenplay... the music could've been a little more wild and loud... also everything becomes predictable very long before it happens... a slightly better focus could've been given to the pace of the movie....The dialogue part should've definitely been improved especially the part where santi's gf cries... the dialogue lacks a little logic.... also his little brother driving off on the lamborghini part... he is from a small poor neighbourhood and he drives a car.. i don't buy it... and he shows his middle finger to his bro... why would he do that??
... View MoreProblem with these 2 'Goal' football (yes Americans, the game is called FOOTBALL not soccer) movies is that they are blatantly ridiculous. And actually -a fact that no one seems to notice- there's a lot of interesting stuff going on in football's REAL LIFE -more interesting i'd say, then in these stupid 'goal'-movies where the hero goes from illegal immigrant to winning the champions league in approximately one (1) year. That's the level of a ten year old, i'd say, or as i may add, of an American audience that for some strange reason never seems to get bored by the same old storyline in a different movie. Let's throw in a car chase, let's throw in some kissing, let's throw in some celebs ,oh yeah, some unrealistic football action before we forget, and ready is our SOCCER movie. That's the biggest problem. Hollywood doing a football film will NEVER NEVER work. Any volunteers from other sides of the world?

The football bits are quite good, the cameos are great and the story is reasonably engaging. Im not saying its brilliant by any means but I don't think it deserves the negative comments its had. Its a good fun football film that any sports fan will enjoy - and fair play for ending on a cliffhanger. Becker is a charming lead and Friel pulls of a reasonably genuine Geordie accent. If you want a sports movie with a bit of heart, fluff, action and a bit of glamour, you won't be disappointed.
