Disclaimer: I like bad horror/thriller movies and watch them in my spare time. Although I may be a harsh critic sometimes, I still respect the creators of the film for taking the time, effort and money to make art. If you could call it that. I base my score of the film by asking myself, "How many times would I rewatch this, if any at all?" A 1 signifies I would never rewatch it. A 2 signifies I might watch it once more, and so forth. Fear Inc. What I Liked: Abigail Breslin Cameo I guess I like the main guy's girlfriend's outfits. I liked the song choice and shot of the main guy walking out of the desert. The ending was probably the best part of the movie. Best part was when Joe died. What I didn't like: Discount Owen Wilson The Bane scene. Ugh. Actually, all of the horrible charades stuff. Way too many jump scares. Vomit scene wasn't funny. When will directors realize no one likes vomit scenes? Tries waaay too hard to be funny. The guy friend actor is horrible. Smirking while saying lines that are supposed to be serious. Main character is super unlikeable. Scratch what I said earlier about the guy friend. All the actors are terrible. Ok, the girlfriend of the main character is kinda decent. I'm 40 minutes into the movie right now, and I want to turn the movie off and take a nap this is so horrible. The jokes are some of the worst jokes I've ever seen in a movie. A one handed standing choke is one of the least effective chokes, dumb to use that in a "fight" scene. The Freddy sweater is so tacky. The camera work is really bad. The main character's acting is so bad. It's so bad it sounds like when actors play bad actors.
... View MoreJoe Foster (Lucas Neff) loves horror films. He freeloads off his rich girlfriend Lindsey (Caitlin Stasey) who somehow loves him in spite of his obsession and faults. Joe's friend Ben (Chris Marquette) from back east shows up at his (or Lindsey's) California home with his wife Ashleigh (Chris Marquette). Ben also loves horror films. Joe gets a mysterious card for "Fear Inc." a company that specializes in creating a personal horror experience. He makes a call to find out more and discovers they have no openings. The fun then begins as people die around Joe in horror film fashion. They mention some of them in case you haven't seen every horror film, such as "Friday the 13th" and "Saw." The amount of films they pay homage to is tremendous, and I am certain I missed a few. Note the "Freddie" shirt on Joe at the end. The film makes you expect multiple twists. The acting was good, but my big question is why didn't they hire some inexpensive standard horror film actors to be in the film to play the extras? How much could a guy like Clint Howard charge? Tobin Bell? A missed opportunity for more humor.Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
... View MoreWhat this film is NOT: Funny, Entertaining, Well actedWhat this film is: Terrible, Predictable, Stupid. As another reviewer rightly said the lead 'actor' of this movie was incredibly annoying, it's possible it could have been better with another actor, in between being too enthusiastic and excited to being overly panicking and pathetically crying the scenes felt annoying, boring and painfully dragged out. But unfortunately I endured to see the movie out (instead of turning it off). I will some it up below for those interested and save and hour and a half or so of your lives.============== SPOILERS ==============So we have this complete loser, annoying douche, who is sponging off his girlfriends parents, hires this ridiculous team called 'fear, inc', despite his friends and girlfriend warning against it (because fear inc are crazy or something stupid), being the complete douche that he is, he hires them anyway. His friends who are staying the weekend freak out, they get separated (this even feels stupid to explain). Anyway there are stupidly predictable twists, and like 'The Game' the movie which they mention in the film, its all a gag that his friends and girlfriend are in on, but it's too late because douchebag accidentally kills one of the Fear inc team, they go to bury the body and Fear inc find him and kill his girlfriend...But again THAT was all part of the gag! Yay! How predictable. Then the ultimate predictability which I hoped they wouldn't go for because it made a less than average film go full retard, when the Fear inc people kill him and all his friends all of a sudden, for no reason, and we as viewers are supposed to believe that there could be a company that would just go around killing people so extravagantly and elaborately without getting caught or even suspected, despite people dying after hiring them and people knowing about them. This twist was stupid and unnecessary.I wish I had just re-watched 'The Game' (this film does the twists the right way) or maybe even just watched some paint dry.
... View MoreIf this was a real company, I would probably hire them. That might mean I'm a little crazy once you see this movie. But I couldn't stop thinking about it. Haunted houses and stuff are so popular now. I've been going to one called Nightmare Hallow Scream Park in MN since I was a kid. And now there are a bunch that are so cool. This movie is basically about a guy who finds a company that tells him they do scares way bigger than haunted houses. And they do. They basically make him relive horror movies. I bet people will see this movie and create a company like this that you can hire at Halloween to come to your house. I would do that!Anyway, this movie stars the guy from raising hope and there are a lot of other actors I knew (the catcher in the sandlot works for the company). This is a really fun movie and has a lot of twists.
