Two childhood friends plan to rob an armored car depository. An NYPD officer stands in their way. Empire State uses The Rock as a marketing ploy to bring more people into watching it and it seems it worked since the best part of the film "The Rock" is in the film for like 15 to 20 minutes tops, Michael Angarano is annoying as hell and Liam Hemsworth is ok nothing more and nothing less. The story is interesting but the film's pacing is slow and kinda boring as well and except The Rock who does a great job? The rest of the Cast was fine except Angarano who was terrible. (5.0/10)

This girly man little idiot "Eddie" is perhaps the most ignorant, annoying actor I have ever seen. Certainly anybody that acted like this fool in reality would of been put down many years before. This is a poorly directed, poorly acted, poorly written movie. It is in fact, frustrating to watch. The only reason I kept watching was hopefully I would see a bullet rip through this "Eddie" moron's face. The acting was over the top (in a bad way). Over dramatic acting to say the least, backed by a poorly written script. Seeing as this movie is based on real events, the production came off as something made by incompetent fools. The ingredients for a good movie were in place, but they didn't know what they were doing, and burnt it to a crisp. Given a better production team this movie could of been much better. Don't waste your time, unless for some reason, this is the only movie you are able to watch.

Empire State is based on a true story set during the 1980's, about a bank heist gone terribly wrong. This film is moreso predictable which is the case with films based on true events, however the story here is interesting enough to continue watching. Empire State had a limited release, which is shame since the film could have made decent profit. Althugh there was far greater potential the what came from the final product. The lead played by Liam Hemsworth is decent, but with a better lead it could have been a far greater film. Also Dwayne Johnson is criminally wasted in this movie as a detective. Whenever he appeared on screen, my interest level was raised significantly, but that was much too seldom for my liking. Dwayne has a gift when it comes to charisma, and the fact that he has such a small role here is incorrigible. He was far too good to have such a small part in this movie. Emma Roberts is barely in this movie, aside from a few pointless scenes. Overall the film could have fared better with better direction, but it was a decent watch.

An Almost Movie that is Almost what it Attempts to be, but not quite. It has many Scenes that are Frustrating and the Characters range from Impossibly Irritating (Eddie) to somewhat Dull (Chris). The Director handles the Film in a way that could be called Mis-Handled. The Screenplay, even Worse and is all over the Place.Never Witty or Intriguing it moves along at a slightly more than Snail's Pace as it has some Clunky Combinations of Irritating Talk, Punctuated with some Violence. It never seems to Coalesce and by the End the whole Thing is a Ho-Hum Affair that betrays its True Life Subject Matter. This may have been the Greatest Heist in History but as a Film not so Great. Mediocre at Best, it is Dull at Times and is put together like a Crazy Woman's Quilt, resulting in a Craggy, Bland, but not Totally Worthless Film. It has some Moments but the Crime here is that it's all Rendered with a Complete lack of Style or Composition that makes this Type of Thing such a Perpetual, Intriguing Genre. The Heist Film. But it was an Opportunity that got Stolen Away in the Script Phase.
