This is the kind of movie I wanna root for: unique, small, quirky, human. Unfortunately, it's just so...odd. Not funny enough to be a comedy. Not clever enough to be original. Not thrilling enough to be exciting. And DEFINITELY not authentic enough to feel real. There was one moment I really liked (cops shoot out "through" building), but otherwise this is just an awkward holiday indie that wastes a stacked cast.

This is my first review, mainly to defend this movie. I've used IMDb for years to filter movies based on user reviews, but more importantly, critic reviews. My favourite movies are often those that receive average user reviews, but positive critic reviews; when the mainstream critics finally chime in, this movie will be no exception. It's always interesting to me when a movie receives mainly very high ratings and very low ratings. If you're a fan of Dark Comedy and can appreciate a movie that makes you think...this one is for you!

Strange movie, just 90 minutes of nothingnessIt's not funny so can't be a comedy, it's not a horror, thriller, drama.. I just don't know what the aim was for this. There was one gun fight i thought was funny, but apart from that i don't even think it was trying to be funny, there were no jokes, funny situations. there were no surprises, no shocks... the acting was good, everything looked and sounded good, there just isn't anything to see.for such a simple storyline, it just made no sense. I really hope it wasn't trying to by funny or clever, surely if it was someone would have said while making it that they should put some clever or funny lines in. not worth watching.

I wasn't expecting much from this. Netflix and its original movies haven't been great, and on paper the cast was nothing special, but I was surprised by how frequently I laughed.Yes, it had a cliched premise, and you could see the ending coming from a mile away, but it still ended up being entertaining. I actually laughed at Dax Shepard's character and I usually can't stand him. Kurtwood Smith is still comedy gold with the right material. Michelle Mylett I hadn't seen before, but she gave a solid and understated performance as Kate and made me a fan in the process. It's a good Christmas movie. Don't expect too much and you won't be let down.
