Let's get this straight. There is no Patrick Swayze in this movie. Abigail Breslin is not Jennifer Gray. The dance scenes are a little overly choreographed for my taste. This isn't as good as the original movie, and the remake of She's Like the Wind is pretty much garbage, HOWEVER, if you take this as a movie on its own... it isn't that bad. The expansion of Lisa Houseman and Mr. and Mrs. Houseman is nice. Breslin's Baby is wonderfully awkward in my opinion and is a more realistic bookworm/nerd. Billy Dee Williams is a nice addition to the cast as the band leader and it touches nicely on the changing views of race in the 60s. Was the singing necessary? No, but it makes it interesting and just different enough. Unlike a lot of people I knew when I watched the original that Baby and Johnny didn't wind up together, so the ending change isn't sad for me and is another nice addition to the story. This will never beat the original, but for a TV movie it's enjoyable. And I get to hear Breslin sing again, something that I haven't been able to enjoy since she did Janie Jones nearly a decade ago. All in all, I enjoyed it.
... View MoreThis is my 1st review on here and I'm reviewing it so people actually give it a shot they WON'T regret. 1stly don't go into it expecting the original that's just foolishness, if you're going to watch it then watch it for the sake of the movie and not its predecessor as that is in a completely different league of its own as this one is too for its time and what it represents. It starts off terribly where I was literally laughing at how bad it was If anyone rates the movies based on the start it would be a wasted experience that's so good i literally can't wait to watch it all again. In a nutshell i cried no less than 3 times a combination of joy, awe and sorrow combined go throughout the film and lost track of how many times I screamed at certain scenes. It is raw, emotional, heart wrenching and complete contradictions of what's expected from start to finish and that's what i loved about it & it's only as the movie progresses does the beauty of that manifest. It's a masterpiece that will never get its due based on the offshoot of the original and that is simply the reality of it.It was trully one of my favourite movies ever watched which says so much in this day'n age where everything is about making the next buck and nothing about the viewers and actors and experiences anymore.I was going to give it an 8 but by the end of the movie it was a definite 10
... View MoreOMG WTF!? spoilers! THEY SPOILT IT! Worst remake of all time you have killed a classic film! low budget! first time you see Jonny & baby dancing, when she carries a watermelon, the room should be crowded and wasn't, it had as much sex appeal as an elderly care home tea party! it wasn't written or directed well! the scenes were not filled out, it was rushed, plus they added new scenes and removed scenes. badly cast! the actress for baby was all wrong, curvy girl with no dancing talent! she moved like a hippo! the sister would have made a better baby and finding a taller actress for the part of Liza, both sisters didn't look even related. both main cast actors for Jonny & Baby had ZERO chemistry! worst couple of all time. I can't say enough bad things about this movie! fans of the original do yourself a favour and avoid! The so money supermarket advert with skeletor & he-man rendition was way better. disappointed! Killer clowns from outer space disappointed! Kelly
... View MoreThis movie is so bad I couldn't watch it until the end. fifteen minutes in or so and you already know that this is so much worse than the original. I mean, if you are going to do a remake you have to try to make it more modern or add something to the mix. Not do the same but simply much worse. The acting was terrible.
