A predictable, stereo-typed load of American patriotic turd. So his wife died, you cant win it all, but that doesn't stop him nailing his co-worker later on. another perfect example of how American action thrillers display their ideal American dream achieved by loosing morals. I honestly don't recommend this for anyone, not children as its far to gory and aggressive, not adults because it is so unbelievably mind numbing it makes it amazingly difficult to watch and even harder to enjoy. As for the ending, well what a cop out. By some miracle they figure out where a mastermind is, someone they have been following for years because he makes such obvious mistakes. WHAT A PLOT HOLE! So unbelievable it actually made me cringe.Really disappointed.
... View MoreThis film kept me entertained from start to finish. It reminded me of "Speed" or "Blown Away" with the same type of tension and suspense throughout the story, with interplay between the cop and the killer. Sean Patrick Flannery did a great job as a cop who rejoins the police force to track his old foe, an assassin played by Joe Pantoliano. The supporting cast, including Greg Serano as the cop's partner and Carmen Serano as an FBI agent also tracking the assassin, did a nice job as well, though they are not as seasoned as Flannery and Pantoliano. The soundtrack was great and really added to the film. This is definitely worth a look on DVD, although I am disappointed it is not going to be released on Blu-Ray.
... View MoreDirector Robert Kurtzman's first foray into the action/thriller genre certainly won't be his last. While I have always enjoyed Kurtzman's horror flicks and magnificent special and make-up effects, I was anxiously awaiting his directorial debut into another type of film. I was not disappointed, as "Deadly Impact" is a solid thriller. Joe Pantoliano plays an assassin who is wreaking havoc on his victims, and Sean Patrick Flannery plays a cop on the team assigned to stop him. As Flannery's character gets closer to finding the assassin, he becomes the object of the assassin's wrath and the cat-and-mouse game begins. The two characters try to outwit and out-think each other up, right up until the very end. Be sure to grab this on DVD for an entertaining movie night.
... View MoreScore another winner for master of horror Robert Kurtzman, this time with a taught, densely packed thriller. Joe Pantoliano and Sean Patrick Flanery are excellent foils for each other, with Flanery as the cop with a tragic, tortured past and Pantoliano as a maniacal assassin with a grudge. While there are a few flaws inherent in any film that doesn't have a $50 million budget, these can be overlooked as this film grabs you by the throat and doesn't let up. Kurtzman's pacing is intense, with a minimum of shoe leather to get you from scene to scene. You do have to pay close attention to every tiny scrap of dialogue, though, as there are lines that are nearly throwaways that are important to the plot. I definitely recommend this for at least a rental, if not a highly entertaining addition to your library. I am disappointed that this doesn't appear to be coming out on Blu-Ray. I'd love to be able to watch it on the Hi-Def with that excellent soundtrack rumbling my innards.
