Big fan of JCVD, but this has the worst acting, worst choreographed fight scenes and worst lines of all his movies. Sometimes showing a punch 6 times from 6 different angles can actually be good. This is one of those times...

Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as Gibson a wondering mercenary living in the remnants of a post-apocalyptic New York. Whilst traversing through the wastes of New York, he stumbles across a cyborg who's carrying vital information about a cure for the plague that's ravaged the Earth. He takes decides to escort her to Atlanta to deliver the cure, whilst being chased down by a marauding gang of crazed bandits, in-which Gibson has had past encounters with.Cyborg is a flat out terrible film. As I write this review i'm really struggling to find a single positive aspect from the film. This film doesn't contain one redeeming quality, going into the film I was hoping for a 'It's so bad, it's good' scenario, but this film couldn't even manage that. Every single aspect of this film is poorly executed. Whilst the film is a direct-to-video B movie, it doesn't excuse the sheer sloppy craftsmanship that's present on screen. The action scenes were woefully choreographed. And the stunt work was some of the worst I've seen in a film. However this is further exacerbated by terrible shot compositions. At the best of times the action was half in frame, with the rest of the action set-pieces focused on the bland set design. The editing is utterly atrocious which made the half of a fight scene I could see, totally incoherent. The films score? Soundtrack? I don't know what the fuck it was, but it wasn't music. Seriously a four year old using saucepans as drums would've been more audibly pleasurable. The films music was so tonally jarring I felt like I was watching a 90's daytime soap mixed with bad porno music. All the actors in the film were abysmal. Jean-Claude was bad, but he at-least tried with his severely limited range. The main villain came across like a pound store Arnie. And whilst the script was giving none of the actors anything to work with, they were still boring and insipid and unable to bring a distinct characterisation to their roles. This is easily one of the worst films I've seen this year. This film made me break my one rule I have when watching films, which is to not fall asleep. Three hours later, it's taken me longer to watch an 85 minute 'action film' then it took for me to watch Doctor Zhivago, I think that sums up this dumpster fire of a film.

Two guys at the end of the movie strip off their shirts, and just start throwing, and brawling... huge muscle tearing into the other. Finally after a long fight, one hands the other from a hanging hook, killing him brutally finishes him, exacting his revenge .That's what a friend of mine told me about the movie and I run to see. Van Damme is perfect like a ripped muscle hero in this movie. His lithe and athletic frame and his action sequences that used karate, kungfu and gymnastics were out of the world awesome. But the villain: WOW! Fender Tremolo much better than Van Damme, he is tough guy and very impressive. You will have villain's image and his intense eyes in your mind ! Fender steals the show with his splendid performance, looking all brawn and muscle! He is terrific as the ruthless villain. He stars as the hulking giant with mean tattoo, shades and alpha male attitude , his buffed body showed in so many scenes where he just take his top off . He is the man with every inch a he-man throwback to when Stallone/Lundgren /Seagal were in their masculine, monosyllabic prime! His muscles make him drool-worthy, and many guys on theater were visibly and audible drilled with the sight. The movie gets quite violent especially towards the end. As Fender and Gibson finally face off, Fender screams like a huge ape in heat. He proceeds doing that later on during the fight, too, with a lot of "arrrrrr" or "argggggg" growls – specially when Gibson stabs the knife into Fender's muscular arm and 8 pack chiseled abs! Gibson also roars like on a climax when he twist the knife inside Fender's abs and then proceed up from the stomach towards the chest and through Fender's face. Fender falls to the ground seemingly dead and, with the serrated knife stuck in the stomach, arch his powerful body on a bridge, projecting his leather bulge high on that agony throe. The brutal climactic fight is top-notch, happens at an electric, breathless pace. Confrontation making it a fight to the finish between two magnificent alpha warriors--Van Damme and Vincent Klyn. The ultimate combat between Fender and Gibson is a powerful male clash, two alpha males in a brutal combat for supremacy, oozing testosterone and manhood. The fight sequences are SUPERB, best fights EVER and they put you on the edge of your seat and all males at movie theater started yelling and grunting like apes in heat at the sight of those brutal stallions in mutual destruction towards the climax: the meat-hook impaling the powerful torso of virile Fender, that dies in wild manly way, roaring and moaning as he was reaching his final climax.

Hmm...a film called cyborg. Everyone's probably thinking about cool Terminator-like cyborg action scenes but you can quickly bury those thoughts coz besides a woman who supposedly is a cyborg made to transport data about a cure for a post-apocalyptic plague to Atlanta there are no cyborgs in this film. This film was conceived to use the costumes and sets built both for an intended sequel of Masters of the Universe (1987) and a live action 'Spider-Man' film. Both projects were planned to shoot simultaneously by Albert Pyun. After Cannon Films, the production company, had to cancel deals with both Mattel and Marvel because of their financial troubles, they needed to recoup the money spent on both projects. So Pyun wrote the story "Cyborg". Some network television channels still give the film's title as 'Masters of the Universe 2: Cyborg' which often confuses many into thinking a sequel to that film was made. Let me tell you guys, this is one of the worst films I have ever seen. The acting is absolutely horrendous. Besides 'arrrgh and waaagh' there is very little comprehensible dialogue and it is delivered in the most amateurish way you can think of. There also seems to be tons of ADR looping coz the dialogue sync is way off and it simply sounds like it was recorded in a studio. The music is is quite funny as it seems to be the score of Kings Quest VI or VII and not the score of a scifi action flick. I turned this movie of twice despite it's short 86 min running time because I always got the feeling I should be watching something better. I finally made it to the end but I sure as hell won't be watching that again!
