Great Movie. Creative, unpredictable, humorous. The kids love this movie. They watch it once a day.I like how it has encouragement to do good and school.Issues at school and all the groups at school.A MUST SEE movie.I won't say anymore.Just that you should watch it.This should be aired in the movies in the US.It's great!! I suggest it for any parents with kids and even parents.Underrated! If you can buy the DVD it has some good behind the scenes stuff and some big surprises.

This was one of the most endearing films I ever got to watch. Such wonderful graphics you really wouldn't know if it was real or CGI. Stephen Chow did it again with this story of a small alien which was picked up from the garbage thinking it was a toy. But low and behold it was an alien. Giving it to his boy as a present only to see it become something wonderful. What was a most moving part of this film was when Jiao's characters father passed away from an accident of a fall in his workplace. To go home and hear it from a teacher who he admires and to break down in such a way you cannot help but cry with him. Jiao was absolutely flawless when he cried himself to sleep. A heart wrenching scene which I know the theatre also cried with him. This carefree and magical movie was a triumph from Stephen Chow who brought us the hit Kung Fu Hustle. Jiao Xu is young but I think will become one of the most important actors to come out of the Philippines in recent years. His ability to let go and feel his part is something breath taking, he is quite cute to the girls who know him and love him. Stephen Chow I hope will bring out a slam bang thriller which will wow the audiences in the future. But for now this film was one of his best, as well as Kung Fu Hustle. My hats off to a wonderful director and actor. And most importantly to Jiao Xu who gave such a brilliant performance.

This film reveals the foreign ways and humor of a different culture, but it is still very cute and funny. One characteristic of foreign (more specifically Asian) films is that they come off as very UNpretentious - as comparable, American films would invariably be seen as corny and phony. I'm not sure if Asian film-makers are aware of this phenomenon (my guess is that they are not), but I hope they DON'T become aware of it - as they would surely get the chemistry wrong with a more contrived outing. To talk about specific plots or meanings would basically ruin anyone's experience when first watching this movie; but there are very funny references to the film maker's earlier, extremely funny movie "Kung Fu Hustle" (I wish more artists, of all genres, could/would do this in humorous, creative ways). Bottom line, this is an innocent and very humorous film...one of those 'feel good' movies you just want to veg in front of and not think too much...just ENJOY!!

Given that this was written as a kids film I think it absolutely hits the mark and then some, but if you are expecting Kung Fu Hustle's biting humor or the physical comedy of Shaolin Soccer then you find it here (at least not all). The film made me laugh and it made me cry (but then I am a total sap and prone to crying). I watched it to make sure it was OK to show to my kids. After watching it I would have no problem showing it to any kid, although as was mentioned by another reviewer you might want to be there to cuddle with the kids when the sad bits hit.Looking forward to Chow's next venture. This will be one more of his DVDs to end up on my shelf.
