I was shopping for a stocking stuffer around Christmas and ran into this DVD at a local shopping market. I was immediately amazed at the style and color of this Film. With the name Disney you have some tough shoes to fill, but this is Animation is great!!!! I would say more so on the Cartoon network style of 2D animation but it is Beautiful!!! I was amazed to see A cartoon that puts Jesus in a "Christmas" special these days! I bet that's going against the grain of some critics!I had no idea there was a Roy P.Disney. I really hope he keeps on making Animated films this was pure eye candy !!!! Its Beautiful!!! Highlyunder rated !!! Bravo!!!!!!!!! check it out!

View MoreNow people who follow my comments on IMDb will know that I can be quite harsh and very honest, but without people like me, thousands of hours of time on this planet would be wasted staring vacantly at the television screen. I sat through this film in tears. Not because I was moved by the story or had my heart strings pulled by the music.. because 1 million dollars were scribbled on, burnt and ripped to shreds to make this animated car crash. What was the million dollars spent on? WHO KNOWS! It's completely mysterious at first where the budget went.. The music was awful - it sounded like it was the demo song from a budget synthesizer. Even my cat was terrified by the quality of the music. The worst part is the narration, by the grey haired guy who plagues our airways at night.. jay Leno. It was just the icing on the cake. The film was dreadful and I hope it will never find it's way back onto my TV in the next 100 years. The only good thing was when it finished.
... View MoreI too found this movie via Redbox. As others have said, it certainly has its moments, but there are some major disappointments. Some funny moments, granted. The kids seemed to enjoy it.The ubiquitous happy-go-lucky elf giving his all. An overweight and flatulent Dasher trying to relive his glory days (nights?)The songs -- DULL.DULL.DULL. (Did I mention DULL?) What's with the magical winter-active caterpillar? The Evil Stepmother taken to a new level -- a real Dickensian witch with Paris Hilton's chihuahua. NO Christmas for 30+ years? And the confusing link between Santa's Magic Sack and the Christ Child... over-the-top doesn't say enough. Finally, IMHO, this would be a prime feature for a Christmas-themed MST3K...
... View MoreSanta's magic sack was made from Jesus' swaddling clothes? You can't just meld two mythological characters or themes like that. I love holiday specials and I don't mind the inevitable Christian-themed stories that appear along with the rest (Yuletide, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.) But mixing them together in such a way is just silly and confusing for some younger viewers. I prefer holiday stories to stick with one branch of mythology or theme rather than trying to tie them together in one way or another in an attempt to give one emphasis over the other. Overall the movie was cute and my kids seemed to enjoy it for the most part, but I don't think I'll be adding this to our holiday favorites.
