Christmas Do-Over Trailers

A ne'er do well father and ex-husband who always raced his way through the holidays is forced to relive Christmas Day time and again until he gets it right in this family oriented fantasy comedy starring Jay Mohr. It's Christmas time once again, and as usual Kevin (Moore) is scrambling to get his son Ben a last minute gift before stopping by his ex-wife Jill's house for a quick swig of eggnog. Ben can't stand Jill's impossibly perfect new boyfriend, and the prospect of spending the entire evening with his former inlaws is nearly too painful to ponder. But this Christmas things are going to be different, because this Christmas might just last forever. At first Kevin resists the curious development by simply reverting to his childish ways, though he is about to find out that sometimes in order to build a better future one must finally make amends with the past. ~ Jason Buchanan

I just saw this movie last night (rented from my local library), and I was not amused. Let me list how many things are wrong with this movie. Jay Mohr as a divorced man visiting his son for Christmas...actually, that's okay. What is not okay is, he doesn't care enough about his son to get him a decent Christmas present (He says at the store, "I'll have whatever he's getting" without even knowing what it was the other man was buying...how uncaring is that?). He rejects his son's invitation to go camping, not because he has work or something, but because he doesn't feel like spending time with him. He's rude to his ex-wife's parents (who didn't have to invite him, but did so that he could see his son for the holiday), he's rude to his ex-wife and her boyfriend, and when he gets the chance to 'right his wrongs', he actually does worse. He attacks a Santa Claus, attacks a Nativity Scene couple, pigs out on holiday pies, steals his wife's boyfriend's Christmas present to his son, and other things I will not mention here because it's all too insulting. If you can believe it, this schmuck actually gets his way at the end of the movie; he sends his ex-wife's very caring boyfriend packing and wins her back, after all the devious things he did! I realize this was a family film (ha!), but this man didn't do anything to deserve a happy ending. I give this three stars because it wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen (in fact, it's not even the worst Christmas movie I've ever seen), and because I feel generous as I write this. But I do NOT recommend this movie because it achieves nothing in the learning department about the Christmas spirit.

Excellent movie ! Great casting ! 'Christmas Do-Over' is a real pleasure to watch. With a solid cast as Jay Mohr (Jerry Maguire), Daphne Zuniga (Spaceballs, American Dreams, Beautiful People), Adrienne Barbeau (Carnivale), bravo to ABC Family for release this charming movie. Jay Mohr and Daphne Zuniga did a really great job, two excellent actors!!Directed by Catherine CyranSynopsis: Feeling obligated to spend Christmas visiting his ex-wife Jill, young son Ben, and former in- laws, a shallow jingle writer finds himself living Christmas day over and over again. You know when a record keeps skipping and you hear the same thing over and over and over and nothing happens? Consider this movie a Barry Manilow LP that skips for 2 hours. Jay Mohr is a guy that hates xmas and has to relive the same xmas every day until he gets it right. You will hate xmas after seeing this movie.Go with Groundhog Day instead. This movie rips it off in every way possible, but lacks Bill Murray's genius, a sun shy mammal, and a funny script. Phenomenally terrible in every aspect. My girlfriend says I need to say something nice and not be such a grinch, because it "does have a positive message and is very sweet and family oriented" but the bottom line is that it's like watching Santa & Mrs. Claus get hot and heavy after a long night of present delivery...not a pretty sight. It's insulting to anyone with taste that movies like this even make it onto cable.

I really enjoy many of the low budget, made for TV Christmas movies. ABC Family, Hallmark and Lifetime are a few of the networks that have produced some very special, heart-warming stories. Right now I envision an executive at ABC Family who is in fear of not having a job at the turn of the New Year.Yeah, it was that bad. Jay Mohr had a few okay moments, but overall he didn't provide much of a performance. Combine that with the script and (non)supporting cast and you have a long, dull two hours that could have been better spent shoveling snow.Peas on Earth! Jesus fighting! Easy Bake Oven! A BRAND New Car! The winning lottery numbers! Belching Christmas carols at the dinner table! The movie tries quite a few outlandish style gags and goofs but the cast simply fails to back any of it up with any sort of reaction worthy of the stunts. This movie isn't worth a whole lot more, but I do have to ask just where in the name of all creation did Todd disappear to when Jay Mohr and his ex-wife finish the movie playing tonsil hockey? One would think that a guy who started the day by buying his girlfriend a new car and planning a huge moment to ask her to marry him in front of the whole family would only vanish into thin air after he hid the bodies!
