Frank Allen, a professional speaker who lectures on time management has a perfectly ordered and scheduled life, down to the minute. When his wife sets his clock forward 10 minutes as a joke, his day is thrown off. Deciding that his strictly ordered life has done him little good, he begins to make multiple choice index cards, choosing one at random and doing what is written on the card.

A wedding appears to be about to begin but a gentleman is giving advice to the groom. He's Frank (Ryan Reynolds). Spilling out a story as an example, Frank tells his tale. This man had a lucrative job, giving advice to Vancouver area businesses on how to make maximum use of their time. He himself was ruled by clocks and notecards. Sometimes, this upset his lovely wife, Susan (Emily Mortimer) and his young daughter, for they can had a harder time getting his attention. One day, long ago, Susan launches a scheme to get Frank to have another cup of coffee with her at breakfast. She resets the clocks ten minutes. Unhappily, she sets them the wrong way! Instead of gaining time, Frank loses it. Now, late for the ferry, he misses it by a few seconds and the boatman refuses to let him board. This makes him late for his speaking engagement and the rest of the day. Ticked off at Susan, Frank ends up getting a few drinks at end of the work day and falls for a blonde's advances. But, once they are in a hotel room, Frank declares he loves his wife and bolts. This makes the pickup artist mad so she phones Susan. On the way home, Frank also rescues a pregnant lady and takes her to the hospital. Putting his name on papers, the medical establishment ALSO calls Susan. What happens next? You guessed it! Susan pitches a fit and refuses to let Frank back in the house until he can prove he's not the father of the baby. Yet, running to get a DNA test, this leads to more problems and uncovered secrets, especially with a close friend of the couple, Buddy (Stuart Townsend). Chaos is the name of the game. Will all end happily? This is an interesting story with good actors (I greatly admire Reynolds and Mortimer), scenic sets, nice costumes, an intriguing script and a secure direction. Its like films such as Sliding Doors, without the benefit of living things over again but just dealing with issues in the present time. Therefore, if you like the cast (Townsend is a looker, too, with good acting chops), get this movie. My theory is it is most worthwhile.

This movie is sexist where they treat the men as stupid children:There's so many movies that make the woman authoritative and in control and the men just follow them like they are children. In most chick flicks if the guy cheats the woman kicks the guy out of the house, even though it's HIS house and he pays the bills (i.e.'Obsession' with Beyonce), and she either takes him for all he's got or she already has two guys trying to get with her who do everything for her while the cheater is so miserable without her. And in movies where the woman cheats on the guy, they show him to be pathetic and he eventually takes her back and forgives her because (like this movie says) "he should be happy that she loves him". So basically the message of most chick flicks is, if the woman cheats just forgive her because you're lucky to have her. But if you cheat on her it's OK if she takes everything from you (there's even movies where the guy who cheated just lets his ex-wive take everything because he feels so bad about cheating. Even more, there's many movies where the woman who cheated is the one who the audience roots for because the husband is either so pathetic and boring that we understand and accept what she did).At the beginning of this movie The wife thinks that the husband (ryan Reynolds character) had a baby with another woman so she kicks him out of the house (and he actually leaves, no man would leave especially since he pays the bills, etc, it's HIS house too). Then when she lets him see the daughter, her friend says "You're actually gonna let him see her?" (Reynold's character isn't a child and if he wants to see his daughter he doesn't need to ask for his wife's permission). Also, when Ryan's character finds out that his daughter isn't really his, that his wife cheated on him, they treat his character as if he can't live without his wife, and he takes her back because his friend says: "You're lucky to have her, she loves you", etc etc.I'm all for woman and men being treated as equals but with most movies (chick flicks mostly) from the 90s to present the men are treated as ridiculous, pathetic who have to do everything for women and not expect anything back. Whereas women can demand things and are almost always the ones who are right and the audience are expected to cheer for.The roles of women have changed for the better where they aren't second to the man but nowadays it's like it's been reversed. We need to change it where it's equal (something the feminists always say but of course they don't have a problem when the men are treated as such...hypocrites)

We make our own plans for life and we manage our life according to these plans. We sometimes apportion months, days or even hours. While Frank thinks that he manage the perfect life, he finds himself in a separate game. The life of Frank, who living the life of a highly planned and programmed, goes up and down as a result of be taken forward his clock so to speak. He missed the boat for 15 minutes and changes the course of his life. After his wife abandoned him and he learned new facts, completely changed course of events. After these events, he thinks that the cause of all of them is related to live in planned and programmed. He start to live a life which the opposite of his previous life. He turned into a man who never wanted to be. Some points may be familiar to you. Actually some people can find something himself or herself in this film. On the other hand, I want to talk about a negative character of Frank Allen. His wife deceived him with his close friend; she did not say that she was sterile. Although Frank learned these events, he remained indifferent all things. In my opinion, in this point we can say that Frank is completely imaginary. Because I think neither male nor female does not remain indifferent. It is a serious problem for their marriage. Nobody accept and keep quiet in the face of situation like this. It is unacceptable for our people. You think maybe I'm too narrow-minded, I don' know but it is my truth. My favorite part in chaos theory is to write what he will do in the next on stickers and to choose one of them randomly and just do it without thinking of about outcome.

I am Cansu Ay from Çanakkale. Before i watched the "Chaos Theory", i thought it was attractive movie. The movie began with a wedding. But what was that? The groom was so coward of getting marry. He was afraid of being a married man. In that time, bride's father talked with groom. He told him that a long story. And story started…Tthere was married couples( Frank and Susan) for 7 years in the movie. Firstly, you think that everything is on the way.Everything is very nice. But one morning, Frank was late for his conference because of his wife, Susan. That situation was awful. Because Frank was so punctual person. He was very angry to her wife,Susan. When Frank went out for his conference, he had some troubles.Firstly, he caught the steamer. In the end, he went to conference. And then he would stay in a hotel room for that night. But there was a silly girl. She was drunk and she wanted to have a nice night with him. But Frank didn't want to it. And he ran away. While he was going to home, he came across a pregnant woman. And she was about to get birth. Then the unwanted situations went on. But Frank learned a reality in the hospital and he was disappointed. He went to home and asked to his wife if it was true or not. Susan was surprised and said to him something... Frank left her alone and went. He thought some plans for killing himself, Susan and another man. But he could not do. There was a little daughter of him. He was a father.I liked this movie. But this movie reminded me again that " Trust No One , Deceive Every One". This world is so cruel.Sometimes you do not want to believe some bad realities. But life.. You do not what will happen.
