Film maker John Murlowski wrote the story that is the basis of this superb horror film and also directed it quite creatively indeed. The screenplay by Will Aldis is highlighted by crisp, clever dialog and a sensitively observed treatment of obsessive revenge. Randy Quaid stands out in an extraordinary cast, giving a performance that is both powerful and deeply moving. The fear of the unknown and sense of helplessness is beautifully captured as a group of young men race for their very lives across a frozen landscape where snow and ice are king. It is a desperate struggle against a mysterious foe and the elements. Both prove equally deadly. The ending has a shocking twist that will take audience's collective breaths away. A stunning film that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Well this one surprisingly turned out pretty decent. "Black Cadillac" borrows even a lot more from Spielberg's "Duel" than "Joyride" did. And there isn't even one truck in sight. No hot, sun-laden desert roads here, but icy-cold, nightly, dark, snowy backwoods mountain-roads. That gave the movie a good atmosphere. The low budget shows a bit (once again compared to "Joyride", which had a much bigger one), but it doesn't diminish the fun you'll have with this movie. The acting of the three young protagonists was decent enough. Randy Quaid is good as always. And the Cadillac looked creepy and had a menacing, roaring engine-sound. The ending was satisfying, but not completely unpredictable. So, see this flick on a dark, icy cold & stormy winter night for maximum effect. You probably won't regret it.

Part teen hormone's on overdrive movie, part car chase movie, part lost in the woods movie, part scary movie, part roadhouse fighting movie, part atmospheric freezing-snow movie, part girl trouble movie, and in the end let's not idolize the black Cadillac either. If a Studebaker Golden Hawk had been pursuing the three teens, it would have been just as effective. Basically "Black Cadillac" is what happens when you have a very thin script from supposedly your " own terrifying experience", and try and pad it into a movie. The endless chase scenes become tedious, and gradually the entire film loses steam, until the ending which seemed unimaginative at best. - MERK

To heck with the Cadillac! It's the Saab that's really cool. This looks like a 1997 Saab 900, but it has some interesting features. The standard driver's airbag(s) doesn't work. Neither does the passenger side airbag, but that was optional, so maybe there isn't one on this car. The defroster doesn't work, since you can write in frost on the windshield and "...it's never coming off." But it does between scenes, since the frost seems to come and go. Plus, the Saab makes it about 90 miles to the State line in less than 40 minutes or so...driving in circles.Anyway, continuity errors aside, this is an OK film. A bit maudlin in parts, but interesting enough to hold your attention for 90 minutes.Randy Quaid does a great job, but everyone else is just average.Worth renting once.
