First things first, Angus, Thong and Perfect Snogging isn't going to win any awards for being the best movie of all time and objectively, it's pretty damn awful, but I still enjoyed watching it. It's easy to watch, stupidly funny and everything you'd expect from a typical teenage chick-flick/comedy made in the noughties. The cliches are unbearably cringe and the stereotypes are all wrong (your typical plain girl Jane gets the best looking guy in school and in the process butts heads with his pretty blonde girlfriend that is by default a brat) but this isn't a movie that should be taken seriously. It's definitely not a realistic take on what it's like to be a teenage girl since it's over-invested in those teenage girl stereotypes from American movies - late night sleep-overs, bitchiness, naivety, boy obsessed etc. On that note, considering this movie was British, it didn't feel very British at all and the behaviours of the characters and general feel of the movie felt more American than British (the only British elements to the movie were the accents and the setting). However, this movie works if you're looking to switch your brain off and have a few giggles. It is feel-good and improved my mood, so for me, that's what earns it the rating I've given it.

When i first heard about this movie i was incredibly excited, i am a teenager and chick flick movies are my thing, so when i eventually got the DVD i was disappointed in the actors/actresses and the plot, the story's spotlight is focused on teen Georgia groome she is a wooden actress and incredibly annoying, i couldn't understand how a 15 year old girl could say something so immature like "i'm not going to your proxy party" "girl's it's boy stalking time", i know this but me as a teen would never say that it's weird. anyway moving on through out the movie there was no comedy whatsoever and it was mainly boring a stupid. The "sex god" (he was not even that cute) already had a girlfriend and Georgia felt betrayed all she did was speak to him once and acts as if he knew her, and finally Lindsey did not even bully Georgia all she did was tell her to stay away from Robbie, then Georgia acts all grown up suddenly and wins the boy!!!! HOW. DON'T BOTHER WATCHING THIS SAD MOVIE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF

Georgia fancies Robbie who is going out with Lindsay so she starts plotting with her friends even though her parents won't let her have the 16th birthday party she wants and besides her dad is getting promoted to New Zealand and her mum may have something going on with the hunky builder...This film is based on books which I haven't read. It is OK. It's not terribly original, but is mildly amusing nonetheless. The acting is, for the large part, no better than adequate and, regrettably, this includes the adult cast as well as the teens. The only cast member who stands out as good as Aaron Johnston who, of course (and, I suspect, not entirely coincidentally), has gone on to bigger and better things.

"Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" is like a teen romantic comedy, but it's better than its contemporaries. We have a group of 14 year-old girls, mainly focused on Georgia (Georgia Groome), who try to find romance, learn how to kiss, and just go through the ups and downs of life as all teenagers do. It's mostly done with comedy, and some light-hearted 'real-life' moments. I find it is one of the better looks at teen girls while remaining cute and funny.I am older than its target audience, and while it's perfectly suited for its audience of teen and pre-teen girls, I was able to look back with amusement on all their trials of love.I am relieved that we have a teen comedy that doesn't go for a more mature audience and doesn't show the girls as more mature than they actually are. Finally with "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" we have an age-appropriate romantic comedy filled with light-hearted fun.
