Brittany checks her boyfriend into the hospital for routine out patient surgery. After a while he disappears without a trace. He is not in the hospital records. Brittany has a history of psychological disorders and appears to be unsure herself. Little by little Brittany finds clues to convince herself she is not crazy and her boyfriend is real. She runs around the hospital in a frantic search as the staff try to catch her.Brittany Murphy's doll face is in nearly every scene. The acting was good, the plot was so-so as the "is it real?" didn't carry through until the very end as the movie shifts from a suspense-thriller to an action-drama.If you enjoyed "Shutter Island", you might want to check out this movie or vice-versa.

Los Angeles bank manager Brittany Murphy (as Mary Walsh) accompanies her boyfriend to the hospital. They have been dating for only four months, but it looks like a convergence of soul-mates. Hobbling in on a crutch, stocky insurance salesman Dean Cain (as Kevin Peterson) is there to have an operation on his knee. Promising to wait, Ms. Murphy goes to the hospital cafeteria for some coffee and spends some additional time in the waiting room. When she receives no update, Murphy begins inquiring about Mr. Cain's status. She is startled to discover nobody at the hospital has heard of Cain or his operation – in fact, he appears to have disappeared. Murphy wants to file a missing persons report, but twitchy police officer Jay Pickett (as Franklin) has to wait 24 hours. He and the staff try to find Cain, but begin to wonder if Murphy may be crazy...Murphy's hair looks like it hasn't been washed in weeks; also, there a distinct line showing her darker roots. On top of this most obvious trait, she often appears unwell, hiding a gaunt face under sometimes ghastly make-up and a lip poof. Despite all of this, we are supposed to believe Murphy is a "high-powered career woman" who is trusted to manage $10 million deals. No wonder Mimi Rogers and Peter Bogdanovich act suspicious. Perhaps Murphy needed more time to recover from cosmetic surgery. Possibly, everyone was on schedule and had to finish the movie by a target date. Years ago, a production like this would have been halted after the first rushes, and re-shooting ordered for the lead actress. That there seems to be something seriously wrong only adds to the sadness upon hearing the "Abandoned" star died before this mystery was released.** Abandoned (8/24/10) Michael Feifer ~ Brittany Murphy, Dean Cain, Jay Pickett, Tim Thomerson

I do NOT understand why this got such harsh reviews! I actually thought this was another thriller type movie that was different! Which is odd because people keep comparing it to double jeopardy which I do NOT see at all! Anyway I really don't like this genre much so I was surprised I did like it since I assumed I would not. I'm giving it 10 stars bc need to up the ratings! I thought Brittany was cute and was sorry to see her life ended so soon (in real life), but I was never a big fan of the cheesy romantic films, I did however think she did a great job in this movie despite her being obviously ill during filming. ****************Not really a spoiler but just in case beware************************* The ONLY thing that did bother me was her greasy hair in the film the WHOLE time! I don't understand what that was all about but that doesn't really have any relevance toward the film.

What are we dealing with here- The Bates Motel? A woman delivers her boyfriend to the hospital for supposed routine surgery and within the hour the boyfriend mysteriously disappears. What's going on here? The hospital administration, other staff, another supposed patient's husband and particularly the psychiatrist all appear to be suspects in their own rights, respectively. The story is awfully bizarre and becomes even more so when the boyfriend and a nurse turn out to be some fiends. Forget the guy with the sick wife and the administrator. This is totally beyond the realm of human understanding. If things are bad enough, the embezzlement is poorly explained and I'm being kind in that sentence. This is a totally absurd, foolish film.
