One of the most gripping, cohesive and sensuously dense shorts in the genre that I've seen in a very long time and a thrill from beginning to end. There really isn't a single misstep that would make you want to exit this magic realism roller coaster ride into Danielle K L Anathema's wonderfully twisted imagination. This is no cheesy ego trip by some new director who wants to toss around buckets of blood and badly made prosthetics with their friends but, instead, a very tight well paced exercise in cinematography and atmospheric story telling with production values that punch far above their weight class. Delivers on all counts in spades. If I was Trent Reznor I'd be reaching for the phone about now, and if I was Poppy Z Bite/Billy Martin I'd be thumbing through that(we hope) long neglected screen play for Exquisite Corpse and keeping an eye on this one. If that was the tasting menu, I look forward to deliciously deviant mains in the future.
