30 Years to Life Trailers

First of all, the title does not refer to someone sentenced to jail. It is a movie about 6 lifetime friends who are all hitting the big `3-0' together during the same year. Each one looks inside themselves to see where has my life gone and what am I going to do with my future. Actually, what I saw was a black Seinfeld comedy. Tracy Morgan, who is one of the main characters, is a struggling comedian just like Jerry Seinfeld. He gives his opinion of what women want in a man in one of his comedy routines. Melissa De Sousa is looking for a man before time runs out. She is just like Elaine in Seinfeld. I don't remember the big problem with turning thirty, however, all the characters in this movie can show you what they are, such as not having fame, riches, a husband, a thin body, and staying young. Their life stories are probably repeated many times around the world.

This movie is absolutely hilarious and provides a in-dept view of the emotional and personal crisis that everyone experiences as they grow older. It's characters cover a wide spectrum of personalities and careers that most of us can relate too. Often times our expectations of the future are never realize when we get to "our future". Accepting one's stage in life is a really emotional crisis, especially when it falls short of what we thought we would be doing or would have accomplished at certain stages in life. All this while laughing heartily at Tracy Morgan and Allen Payne, Debbie DeSouza, Erika Alexander, Kadeem Hardison, etc. Excellent movie and aside from one mature sexual scene involving Tracy Morgan(which was actually more comedic in nature) it is free of the usual over-the-top sexual content and lustful behaviors that generally describe young adults.

I watched this with fairly low expectations, as I had never heard of it. However, it is a very poignant, intelligent and sometimes very funny. Director/writer Vanessa Middleton, has simply not found her due. I would like to see more from this very talented director/writer, and it's a shame it is not already out there. It is an interwoven cast of characters, each going through the trials and tribulations of crossing the ever-creeky and creepy bridge to thirty. The dialogue is smart, and fresh for a change. The characters are colorful, and how it starts w/ one character's 30th, and ends a year later on her 31st, was very well-done, as it wrapped IT ALL UP VERY NICELY!!

I watched the film with low expectations and ended up laughing out loud. Tracy Morgan's standup routines in the film are among the funniest in any film I've watched in years. Funny because they were so true. He slams women who don't cook, clean their own houses, etc. ...and it really hit home...I'm a 30-yr-old professional woman who's guilty, guilty, guilty of all of the above! It's a great movie to watch with friends and to watch on a Friday night. While none of my friends experienced any anguish over turning 30, nearly every professional, single, 30-something woman I know will relate to this film. For example, we want to be taken to nice restaurants but don't cook homemade meals more than once a week, which is probably what our mate wants. And we all know some poor woman who's DATED the same man for years and years...with no engagement ring on the horizon. Yikes! This film is easy to relate to and great fun.
