This is not a movie. This is a very expensive pay off to the Delpy clan. The end product is a feel good publicity for the French. Yet the joke is on the French public, the actual nice of this movie. Everything is carefully white washed. From racist remarks. To the smallest details. Like the heroic father who refused to kill the civilians who rose for independence and it is said he had to wash military toilets. All dirty in the distasteful ensuing slideshow. All toilet bowls with toilet seats. Although in 2017 there are many public places that DO NOT have a toilet bowl, just a hole in the floor. And the public places that do have a toilet bowl either do not have a seat, or the seat is somewhere fallen to the side.Contact me with Questions, Comments or Suggestions ryitfork @ bitmail.ch

I have started to watch this movie without reading anything about it, just checked that it is a comedy. Although the plot seems to be interesting the movie seems not to be as much of a comedy as you might think. Yes, of course the bad European habits seem to be taken from real life, but in fact they are much overdrawn. In fact as for a comedy it seems not so funny at all, however the good acting of the main characters, some really funny situations save this movie from being a waste of time. The most interesting plot for me was selling of your soul to someone – this kept me thinking for a while. Watching this one made me feel that I might have done something better with my time, but If you have some spare time and do not have a better thing to do you might even enjoy this one.

I like Julie Delpy and her previous body of work but this film turn out to be terrible. It seems to me because she is now an established successful author that she fells it is time to rest on her laurels and start to repeat the formula she used before to be successful, over and over again, pushing it to the extreme thinking it would work, it would be funny. Well it isn't. The film seems to be promising at the beginning but soon began to be quite annoying, the characters are very stereotyped but not in a funny way, in a unimaginative cliché way, It seems to watch another Delpy film but one you have seen before, it's uncomfortable to watch and after a bit it gets so tedious that my mind started to wonder somewhere else and my body followed soon after . I rarely stop watching a film in the middle of it unless I feel it is not worth the time I spend watching it. No need to say that the association with Woody Allen is inappropriate, to say the list; some people may not like Woody Allen but undeniably he is never cliché even when he talks about cliché and he has never done a film that is the copy of something already done, jet keeping his distinct and unique style. Going back to the subject, describing this film in few word I would say that it is very disappointing, not recommended to anyone, especially to Woody Allen's films lovers.

"Ever since your family got here you've become another person." Mingus (Rock) and Marion (Delpy) are a married couple trying to make it in New York. Both have a child from a previous marriage and that is a hard enough struggle. When Marion's family visits from Paris tensions begin to tighten to a breaking point between everyone. Mingus wonders if they will be able to last without killing someone. The best way to describe this is as a Woody Allen type movie (Woody had nothing to do with this) but that is the feel that it has. The comedy and humor is very offbeat but funny. The dialog in many places is witty and carries the movie. I have to say that this is a strange movie to see Chris Rock in, he does do a good job though, but it's still weird. The movie is pretty good, but the ending got a little bizarre. This is still basically a movie about crazy in-laws but it is pretty funny and worth seeing. Overall, if you are a fan of Woody Allen then you will probably like this movie. I give it a B-.
