I don't usually review individual episodes, anymore. As nowadays, most readers seem to react neutrally. Voting neither "useless" nor "useful." But, in this case, I have to let them know before it's too late. WLIIA is getting increasingly unfunny! And tonight's all-new episode was the worst, yet.Maybe it's the fact that I've never heard of Marisol Nichols before. But, even her relative anonymity couldn't be blamed for the opening skit, "Weird Newscasters," being the first version of that particular game to utterly fail to make me laugh. So, perhaps, I was hoping too hard that her participation in "Duet" would compensate for that lack of hilarity. But, whatever the reason, that, too, proved unfunny. Let's not even go into "Living Scenery" and "Song Styles."Basically, then, the only thing that did make me laugh, during this episode, was the laundry commercial where the guy comes into his bedroom, spots his dungarees being air-dried from the roof-top eaves trough, and freaks out! Another episode or two like this, and I greatly fear this show won't be granted a sixth season.

I tried to give the reboot a chance, I really did. But I'm sorry, I cannot watch this show with Aisha Tyler as the host. It is NOT the same show. The show does not flow smoothly whatsoever and the flow is controlled by the host. We all loved to joke about how Drew did nothing on the old version of WLIIA, but that's what he did. He did nothing. He didn't get in the way, he pressed the buzzer at the right time on scenes, and joked about how useless he was. So he didn't do nothing, but he acted in such a way that made you not even notice him, but was always excellent when he was needed. That's a good host.Aisha gets in the way. She presses the buzzer way too late and lets scenes drag on almost every time to the point where the scene goes from hilarious to funny to just awkward, which is a big deal. It's like if every scene in game of thrones was 20 seconds longer and the actors had to fill up time talking about the weather that day in Westeros. Ruins the entire atmosphere, takes me out of the scene. The way she speaks sounds like fake enthusiasm and makes me feel like she doesn't want to be there. She also doesn't have ANY real chemistry with anyone on the show and really makes it feel like the atmosphere is tense all the time.WLIIA is the type of show that absolutely requires a laid-back feeling, and Aisha robs that of the show. They need to replace her. Don't care if it would be awkward, out of place, or whatever, PLEASE get a host that the crew can make fun of and vice versa without all of this awkward tension.I say all of this as a WLIIA fan and someone who really likes Aisha Tyler. Take her off this show, she's ruining it.

I wanted to like this new series based on the venerable old programs which are still quite hilarious both in the British and later American incarnations with Drew Carey.Alas, Aisha Tyler doesn't yet fit in but she may never fit in. She overdoes her reactions and the men of the program, used to "giving it to the host" for instance Wayne Brady's mock sexual advances to Drew Carey are not duplicated so far on this incarnation. Nor are they ever likely to be, no doubt due to political correctness!Sorry, the chemistry is not there. I don't understand why Aisha can't use her normal voice instead of that affected loud sing-song delivery she insists on. Maybe if she relaxed more she would do better.Go to YouTube instead and watch the old clips which are the real thing.additional comments added 9/16/16: I think that maybe they are finding better ways for the long-time familiar players to interact with Ms. Tyler and she seems to be giving up her affected delivery which never worked. Speaking of her supposed Trans-sexuality for comedic purposes works for the present and if that can be related to her supposed "bossiness" I think they might succeed where they didn't before!

I watched the first three episodes of this last night and fell the fuk out, repeatedly. I love all the incarnations of WLIIA, but I'm well on my way to loving this one the most. Why? Because it's on The CW this time, instead of ABC Family (wtf really?) and before that, Channel Four (though for the time, they were pretty lax); and therefore the censors are more lax than ever, for both the UK and the US.Now, the critique:I love Aisha Tyler dearly. She's utterly, brilliantly clever, quick and hilarious (she used to be a regular guest on Stephanie Miller before she got, y'know, BUSY, with The Talk and whatever else) and is my mostest favoritest black female celebrity ever (sorry, Whoopi). She also happens to be married to a demure white man (an attorney, no less) which makes me sad because dammit, I coulda had a shot, if only...Anyway, my only complaint is that she doesn't have the same interaction and chemistry with the cast that Drew Carey (not to mention Clive Anderson) did, but knowing Aisha, she will find her way well before the season's end, and WLIIA will enjoy many seasons of renewed life, which is the best news for anyone who loves to laugh uncontrollably for a half-hour at a stretch. In the meantime, the unprecedentedly lax censorship, if it keeps up, will do more than enough to keep the new WLIIA very satisfying.
