I really am a fan of Tyler Perry. But, this show "If Loving You is Wrong", is definitely wrong. I have never seen such poor acting on tv, in the movies, or even in a school play. I can't believe that Tyler doesn't realize how bad the actors are. The storyline is ok, but the writing of it makes it hard to watch as well. I don't know how this show has lasted as long as it has. If the actors take acting lessons and get new story writers, it should improve. Can't do anything but improve. It's truly comical it's so bad!!!!!!!!! Sorry Tyler, but surely you can do better than this.
... View MoreTyler Perry had a good premise for this series but unfortunately the episodic writing does little to move the story, or the viewer, forward enough to capture and keep their interest. The dialogue is frequently slow and so repetitive that the viewer either gets frustrated or loses interest. Combine this with sub par acting by several cast members and you end up with a missed opportunity for another Tyler Perry hit.The cast does have some good actors, specifically Charles Malik Whitfield and Zulay Henao, but they can't completely make up for the endlessly overdone whining of Edwina Findley's Kelly or the cloying ineffectual portrayal of Alex given by Amanda Clayton. In addition both of the main villainous characters grossly over act, making the characters both Eddie (Joel Rush) and Randall (Eltony Richards) too unbelievable to make sense. All together this show, sadly, is a disappointing collection of misses.
... View MoreDrama Drama ridiculous drama and over kill! I have watched every season and this season in particular has me frustrated. I love Tyler Perry and a loyal viewer to all of his work, yet I noticed his two OWN shows "Have and Have Nots and If loving you is wrong" are starting to become over written dramas. People like to watch something that is relatable and realistic and the amount of drama that these Friends/Family are having is just overkill. Many of the characters are criminals, involved in some evil plot or under incredible amount of undue pressure with Lots of dead people. This is not anything relatable??? Over the TOP!!!What happen to love and happiness, cheating and deception? Even the stalking is palatable, but multiple murders and attempted crazy murder? Esperanza is the only one not really involved in craziness other than a crazy Ex (that is over the top criminal) and a being a busy body. Tyler ...Stop. Now a new crazy threatening character introduced? How much is enough for certain characters? (Are we writing poor Alex into a mental hospital?) It takes the class out the show to the gutter. Sorry, please please write better story line and oh stop those long fill in conversation scenes. BORING!!! My daughter who never watches, watched with me and laughed at the poor hospital make up on the shot victim Joey (how did is face get busted from a chest gun shot?). He is a cutie, but his lines are lame. What happened to the mafia son that killed his dad? I love you Tyler, if you need my help writing email me 😇 I never write a lot of reviews, but looked for this because I had to know if it was just me or not? Regards
... View MoreI have been a Tyler Perry fan for quite some time now, but it wasn't until my mother in law told me that she didn't like his writing style, that I took notice. As an educated woman, I find his story lines and conversations juvenile, outrageously unrealistic and unnecessarily prolonged. Eddie is an over the top police officer who gets away with way too much. If Esperanza doesn't like him, and knows his character – why continue unnecessary conversation with him, always ending with "I don't know why I talk to you"? Travis is back on the scene as a crazed and jilted maniac? Seems like Perry just tried to find a way to keep him as part of the cast. Why? Characters come and go, leaving viewers with lack of follow up, of follow through. For example, I am still waiting to see what happened with Claudia's story line. It was revealed last season that she is perhaps in protective custody, and that Lushion is perhaps undercover. Aside from the horrible story line, the acting is awful. The writing is even worse. There was a scene with Natalie and Lushion in the hospital waiting for word from the doctor as to Natalie's son's condition. The doctor finally comes out to chat with them. This is the conversation: I'm Dr. Norton {Pause}. Tell me. He's not in the best condition. How bad. He has less than a 12% chance of making it. There is hope right? Not much. There is some hope though, right? I wouldn't get too hopeful. All I have is hope. When the bullet shattered his rib cage (further explains)…. Lushion then interrupts and asks "How bad is it?" Didn't Natalie just ask the same question not 5 seconds ago?! – What doctor PAUSES to hear what the other party states after providing his name? Honestly, it sounds like a 15 year old wrote this script. It is increasingly difficult to watch a show that feels like it's filling airtime with repeated sentences and delayed conversation. It is by fault of this show that I only made it through one episode of "Too Close to Home" – I saw the same style and I just couldn't bear it. I canceled it from my DVR schedule along with If Loving You is Wrong.
